We are very sad to share news of the recent passing of Michael Caruso. This is a detailed obituary but we will just note with deep appreciation the warm relationship Michael had with St. Paul's and his very faithful and generous reporting of many of our musical events, sacred and otherwise. RIP, Michael.

The unexpected death of someone close always comes as a profound shock. So it is for us as we learned last week of the death of colleague and longtime Chestnut Hill Local classical music critic Michael Caruso.

THIS FRIDAY, MAY 8 at 7:30pm: an exceptional chance to hear an acclaimed and beloved local organist putting the newly-enhanced instrument at St. Paul's through its paces. Mark Laubach's program explores the full range of voices and moods of which the organ is now capable. He'll be playing Franz Liszt's epic Fantasia and Fugue on the Chorale 'Ad nos' (a hymn-like melody from the Meyerbeer opera Les Huguenots). According to Andrew Kotylo, Music Director and Organist at St. Paul's, "It's one of the most exciting works in the organ repertoire, and Mark plays it like no one else." Can't wait!

Join us for Lessons & Carols for Candlemas at Church of the Redeemer Bryn Mawr this Sunday, February 2 at 5:00pm. The combined choirs of St. Paul's, St. Thomas' Whitemarsh, and Church of the Redeemer will offer anthems, along with readings to celebrate the end of the Christmas season and the Feast of the Presentation.
