What if the key to the future of wireless communication was hidden in an ancient Japanese art form? Researchers at Drexel University and the University of British Columbia have done just that — transforming kirigami, the art of cutting and folding paper, into a cutting-edge technology. By using MXene nanomaterials, they’ve created flexible, tunable antennas that could reshape the way we connect. Lightweight, durable, and incredibly versatile, these antennas are poised to revolutionize fields like robotics and aerospace. Want to know how art and science are joining forces to push wireless tech forward? Read on for the full story.

In August 2024, The Stanford List of Highly Cited Researchers was updated through 2023, showcasing the top 2% of scientists (from over 11 million) based on most citations. We are pleased to see Prof. Yury Gogotsi listed the 25th in the world among all scientists, living and deceased, in all disciplines (progressed from 27th in 2022 and 38th in 2021) and 2nd in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the world (progressed from 3rd in 2022). More than 20 DNI alumni, former students, and postdocs are included in this list of the most impactful researchers, demonstrating the outstanding quality of researcher training at DNI.

In light of the global outbreak of COVID-19, we have made the decision to move the MXene Conference 2020 online. We are sad to make this decision, but we recognize that health and safety are the most important. The need for self-isolation and social distancing means that we are no longer able to hold the conference in person.

We invite you to attend the free virtual conference, which will be held between August 3rd, 2020 – August 7th, 2020. Each day will begin at 8:30 am and end at 11:30 am.

Program highlights include the follow:
Daily plenary speakers
Daily keynote speakers
Poster presentations by graduate students with live Q&A sessions

Attendees are also invited to register for the Virtual MXene Synthesis Course and/or the
Virtual MXene Characterization Course.
