WE Dissent- Women's March of Philadelphia

WE Dissent- Women's March of Philadelphia Please join me, your sisters, mothers, neighbors, friends, and march for women’s rights and respect. Support your local ladies!

Now, more than ever, we need to show up, honor, and secure the rights RBG fought to provide us. Let’s put our socially distant actions to use across the country to show Trump and his administration that we are a force to be reckoned with. With 34 days left till the election and women’s rights on the line, now is the time to unite and show up. To all the Philly ladies out there, let’s march for aut

onomy over our bodies, our representation, and show Trump what a real Philly rally looks like. We March for all our womxn, but I’d like to center our march on the injustices and violence BIPOC women continue to endure at disproportionate rates. Please keep this movement safe by wearing masks and social distancing. Bring your best signs and your loudest voices! Hi everyone!!! I hope everyone is taking care of themselves during this EXTREMELY turbulent time. If you need an ear to talk to, you can always message me. We're in this together.

On another note, I'm reaching out about an event that might interest you all.

I volunteer at Justice for Our Neighbor of The Delaware Valley, a non-profit located in PHL. Our mission is to give as many individuals and families fair access to justice. We help them unite families, escape violence and navigate the (harsh and unjust) immigration system by providing pro-bono legal services.

We're hosting a networking happy hour at Love City Brewing on May 26th from 6 pm to 9 pm! Tickets are $35.00 and include an OPEN BAR AND FOOD!!!

All ticket sales go towards the cost of legal fees, which average anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000.

We'll have live music, raffle prizes from local businesses, a silent auction, and performances. It's a great way to meet other non-profits in the area for a chance to get involved in the community.

ROUTE FOR THE MARCH:

The event will start in the front of Independence Hall on South Independence Mall West, move north and turn left onto Market St., down to City Hall, past City Hall on the left to get onto JFK Blvd., go around Logan Square by taking a right into N 16th St., then taking a left onto the Ben Franklin Parkway until we conclude at the front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

It's roughly a 50 minute march and we will put those who are facing any walking challenges or disabilities in front so we can go at their pace.

Reach out with any questions :)

Happy Monday!

I'd like to introduce you to two of our speakers for this Saturday's march: Lynette from NoMore Secrets MBS A Realistic Approach to Sexual Health and Tsehaitu from One Fair Wage!

One Fair Wage is a non profit organization that focuses on advancing policy, driving industry change, and shifting the narrative in order to ensure that all workers in America are paid at least the full minimum wage from their employers. Philadelphia’s minimum wage is $7.25 an hour- It has been at that rate since 2009. The average wage gap between women and men (both working full-time) is 18 cents. Not to mention the gap is larger for most women of color. That needs to end.

Our other tremendous partner No More Secrets, is a women-led organization that focuses on Period Poverty that is not only happening world wide, but in Philly's backyards. During the pandemic, they have delivered three-month's of supplies of pads and tampons to more than 200 households per week. Its time to address the citywide deficits in feminine hygiene products and encourage open discussion on period stigma.

Thank you Tsehaitu and Lynette for doing all that you are ❤

Stay tuned for more information and don't forget to register to vote.
