A Note from the Race Director – Run the River 2026
We’re just a few weeks away from Run the River, and I wanted to share a few updates as we get ready for race day on November 7th!
🏃 Registration & Race Gear
If you want this year’s Run the River half-zip, be sure to register by October 16th! You can still register after that date, but the deadline to receive race gear is October 16th.
Final race registration closes Thursday, November 5th, two days before the race.
Registration link in comments.
👟 Relay Teams – Check Your Rosters!
If you’re registered for the team relay, please take a moment to make sure your team is set up correctly and all members are assigned to the right team. If something doesn’t look right, just send me a message and we’ll get it straightened out.
🌳 Course Update – A Little More River!
The course is essentially the same as last year, with one change I’m excited about. On the way back in, we’re pushing the course out toward the river instead of staying on the gravel road. The views are worth it!
The distance remains essentially the same. GPS readings vary, but you can expect approximately 2.65–2.75 miles per loop. I ran the course this morning, took one wrong turn, and still recorded 2.78 miles.
I’ve included some course photos with caption so you can get a feel for what to expect.
You’ll also find the course map and Strava file on UltraSignup. One important note: The posted map on the platform has not yet been updated to reflect the new river section in place of the gravel road.
If you head out to Petal River Park to run the course before race day, you’ll notice quite a bit of Run the River signage is still posted throughout the park. Don’t worry if you find a spot or two confusing right now. Everything will be clearly marked and cleaned up for race day.
📍 Course Preview Run
We’re planning to host a course preview run, likely the week before the race. Stay tuned for details!
We’re looking forward to another great day at the river. Whether you’re taking on the six-hour solo, running with a relay team, or joining us for the community walk, we’re glad to have you.
Get those registrations in, check those team rosters, and we’ll see you at Petal River Park!
