🌸Spring is here and so are the blossoms!🌸 The local cherry blossoms pictured below are quite lovely but why do we never get cherry fruit here in North Florida? It's because most cherries need a lot of chill hours during the winter to produce fruit and even with all our snow we didn't come close.
The Barbados or Acerola cherry also pictured below, however, is a tropical cherry that will thrive and produce fruit throughout the tropics and subtropics including North Florida and the Gulf Coast. It only needs freeze protection in the winter and produces a tasty, nutritious fruit. 🍒
