THINKING HANDS

November 7th – December 12th (No class December 5th (5 sessions)
In a world where answers are easy to find, Thinking Hands gives kids something even more valuable: the chance to think, make, and discover for themselves. Through creative building challenges using simple materials, students will practice trying new ideas, adapting when plans change, and creating something uniquely their own. Along the way, they’ll learn that mistakes are part of the process, perseverance leads to growth, and some of the best ideas come from rebuilding rather than starting over. This class celebrates curiosity, creativity, and the confidence that comes from making something with your own hands.
$80 for full session or $20 drop in

Join us tonight, Thurs., Oct. 8th, 5:30-7:00 p.m. as we celebrate two bonus exhibits at PCA. Check out the cool buttons and enclosures that local artists made to celebrate the Interwoven fashion show coming up October 15-17, And super fun glow in the dark work by local Artist Peter Bryan. It’s free, opened to everyone, and there will be nibbles and beverages!

Discover the traditional herbal practice of making Fire C***r, a flavorful and warming herbal preparation made with a blend of herbs, spices, and other natural ingredients. In this hands-on class, participants will learn about the ingredients and process behind creating their own Fire C***r to take home.This class offers a fun, practical introduction to herbal preparations and the traditional uses of warming aromatic plants.

BEGINNING CROCHET: COASTER WORKSHOP

October 17th 2026 (one session)
Create your own reusable crochet market bag while learning the fundamentals of crochet! This beginner-friendly workshop will introduce basic stitches and techniques while helping you understand yarn weights, hook sizes, and fiber types. You’ll leave with a finished project and the foundational knowledge needed to continue exploring crochet. All materials are provided. Class size is limited to 5 participants to ensure plenty of individual instruction. No crochet experience necessary.

Just booked lodging for our entire admin staff to attend the 2026 Art & Culture Awards and Summit at the Oregon Convention Center Dec 1 &2! The Oregon Arts Commission and the Oregon Cultural Trust are putting together a great couple of days, and we’re looking forward to connecting with folks doing similar work all over the state. By My Hand: Basket Works by Oregon Artists

In 2024 we hosted an exhibition of miniature (4" and smaller) baskets, and the work that was submitted simply blew us away. Now, instead of miniatures, we want to see your BIG idea! We'll invite up to 15 Oregon artists to take risks with scale, materials, techniques, or other parts of their weaving practice. Selected artists will receive a stipend to create their work and the project will culminate in an exhibition in the East Oregonian Gallery at the Pendleton Center for the Arts in July 2027. Additionally, a full color catalog will be produced with essay by acclaimed fine craft curator Namita Wiggers.
