We came up with this idea to have a community craft project making fabric flags ’s Treefort Market months ago and we knew just who we should ask to help us. ’s sewists from a refugee background & volunteer crew saved a bunch of fabric from their amazing stash and cut them all to size and sewed little pockets at the top for twine to be strung through. They donated so many cool vintage notions, from fringe to lace to buttons, too. We also asked if their stamp makers might want to participate and they really delivered - with all the printmaking supplies to stamp on fabric and gave our volunteers a tutorial. Our Treefort Market directors, & .amy, mined their own craft supplies for more amazing things, including all their glue guns, needles, thread, scissors and more and what a beautiful mess we made together with our community. What resulted blew our minds - we are left with a few hundred fabric art pieces that are as unique as all our attendees - some reflect political action, values, music, joy, silliness, favorite foods, puppies and, of course, a lot of Treefort 🌲 ⚔️ 🪵🫶🏼. There was even a watermelon 🍉! Our amazing volunteers strung them all up as a big display in front of the sunny windows of and it was a show stopping centerpiece for certain. It was so lovely making arts and crafts with you all! We can’t wait to hang this up at Treefort Market 2027 ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 (pssst….we already know what community craft project we’re bringing next year) and in the meantime, keep creating out there. 🎨 ✂️ 🧶
