Hall’s Marksman Kari is one of two Ayrshire on our farm. She was just selected as 2nd place 4 year old and reserve senior champion at the All American show in Harrisburg PA. As you can see from the photo in class she gives up some size but she’s correct enough to hold her own. She came from the Kentucky National show and sale as a calf in 2017. Thank you Bob Nagel and Eddie Sekerak and the rest of the crew for the good job you did with her.
We showed her as a heifer but this is her 1st year showing as a milk cow. We signed her up when she was dry in the summer hoping she would calf in and look good Jason could tell she was going. She was due July 23 and July 22 she disappeared. We looked high and low all over the farm, it appeared she vanished into thin air or down a woodchuck hole but she’s not that small. We even started searching the sky for buzzerds. We were beginning to give up hope and we thought we would never see her again. On July 30 the vet was due to do the health charts at 10 am. And miraculously at 7:30 am she was standing in front of the barn with her heifer calf! The cow and calf were both healthy and happy and didn’t look like either missed a meal. We were worried she would have udder problems even that was good, and on test day she had 88lbs and the 4th lowest scc of the whole herd. We feel as though we are very lucky the good lord was looking out for us and her. To this day we have no idea where she was for a week and she won’t tell us. You can beat next year we’ll have have her in the springer pen under close surveillance.
