There’s a huge proposed change for the limited poultry permit we have to offer the community fresh eggs and poultry meat.

Under Notice 29655730, FDACS states that poultry must be sold with the head, feet, and viscera (internal organs/intestines) intact.

To date, we have not encountered any consumer demand for poultry prepared in this manner. This policy raises serious concerns—not only does it disadvantage small farms striving to offer clean, locally-sourced poultry, but it may also increase the risk of Salmonella exposure by requiring the sale of poultry with potentially hazardous parts.

We are working on a response to FDACS and would greatly appreciate your input to help shape our official communication. If you’d like to share your own concerns directly, please email [email protected] by July 3.
