"Where Everything is Music: gems from the Persian tradition" - this Saturday, 4/22 @ 7:30pm
Spotlight on our performers: Claire MacKenzie
Claire MacKenzie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with concentrations in Opera and Middle Eastern Art Song, as well as a Minor in German Language and Literature from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and Arabic Language and Recitation from the Middlebury Institute for Arabic. She has performed in venues throughout North America, Russia, South Korea, China, Germany, Austria and Portugal. Notable performances include; Ms. MacKenzie’s collaboration with Grammy Award Winner, Al Jarreau in a performance voted “exquisite, exceptional and innovative” by the Los Angeles Examiner, and her most recent Carnegie Hall solo debut of the Rahbani Brothers’ Andalousiyyāt Suite. Ms. MacKenzie currently performs with West Bay Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, and San Francisco Opera on Tap, and she is featured as a vocal soloist and percussionist with Takht Tarab, Eastern Breeze, Aswat, and the Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble.

Join us as we celebrate Black History Month this Saturday night with a concert of gospel music, featuring the award-winning Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. The incredible tradition of gospel and black church music has not only been a pillar of the African American community, but has enriched and influenced our entire country and our culture in ways too numerous to mention. Bodhi Tree Concerts North celebrates the wonderful and wide-ranging achievements of African Americans throughout the history of the United States.

We are so excited for this Saturday's evening of amazing chamber music, featuring some of the very best musicians in the Bay Area. The program includes: Ravel's ravishing, jazz-influenced sonata for violin and piano (the "blues"); living American composer William Bolcom's "Three Rags for String Quartet (1989)," an homage to the homegrown, American music of Scott Joplin and his contemporaries (the "rags"); and the profound, monumental Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, by Johannes Brahms (the "riches").
Featuring the Telluride Chamber Players, led by Roy Malan. Mr. Malan studied in London with Yehudi Menuhin, and later at Juilliard and Curtis with Ivan Galamian and Efrem Zimbalist. He was the longtime concertmaster of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra (1974-2014), and is currently a member of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and plays regularly for Opera Parallèle.
