Fifth Year of Palmyra Holiday Arts Fest Set for the Village Saturday
The 2023 Palmyra Arts Fest in Palmyra Village will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m.–3p.m. Event coordinator Erika Mitchell, of the recently relocated Sweet Art Emporium, says the 2023 version “is going to be our biggest one yet,” with more than 25 vendors slated to participate. Food trucks, live music and an appearance by Santa round out the merry occasion.
First held in 2019, Mitchell reimaged the Arts Fest in 2020 as an outdoor arts market for local artists and artisans to show and sell their work during the COVID pandemic. Mitchell says the event also stives to show off the lovely and historic Village.
Among the offerings, Belle Rock Farm (known locally for its lavender products) will also be selling their highly sought after, festively decorated live greens wreaths.
The Fluvanna Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring artist and pastor Tim Stark as Santa. He will be joined by elves from the non-profit kids theatre group Empowered Players. Though Santa likes to wander around the event, his home base is the Chamber office. Free photographs with Santa will be available.
Stark crafts in wood and resin while his wife Jorja crafts in words, as can be enjoyed in her highly-recommended children’s book Who Will Catch a Milkweed? Copies will be available for purchase.
New this year: buy something from any of the vendors and receive a coupon for $1.00 off any item of paint-your-own ceramics from Sweet Art Emporium.
