The Marion County Fair Coordinator Team is looking for a dedicated volunteer to take over the beloved Cookin’ and Sewin’ Contest! 🍰🧵

This role plays a key part in keeping one of our fair’s traditions going strong. The coordinator is responsible for connecting with the various local businesses that participate in the contest. Each business helps make the event special by selecting the individual winners for the specific item they are judging.

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Lori Payne for her many years of coordinating this fun and meaningful event. Your time and dedication have made a lasting impact on our community, and we are so grateful!

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙮 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘼𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙪𝙧 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩!

This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to help bring one of the Fair’s most entertaining traditions to life. The selected individual or group will take the lead on organizing all aspects of the talent contest, with marketing support provided by the Fair Coordinator Team to ensure information is shared accurately and widely.

Responsibilities include:
✨ Coordinating participant sign-ups
✨ Securing sponsorships for prizes
✨ Recruiting judges
✨ Overseeing event logistics and details

Good news—you won’t be starting from scratch! Files and resources from previous years are available to help guide your planning. Plus, the Fair provides the sound technician, lighting, and more so you can focus on creating a great experience for participants and the audience!

👏 A heartfelt THANK YOU to Mary Freymuth for her many years of dedication in coordinating this event. Her impact has made this a highlight of the fair year after year!

🎡🍔 The Food Vendor Application is Open for the Marion County Fair to be held August 1-8 in Palmyra! 🌭🍧

✅ Who Can Apply?
Priority goes to returning vendors and vendors from Marion County.
New vendors are welcome to apply—especially Palmyra Chamber members. There is limited space at the event. A wait list will be created for vendors who complete the application but are not selected.

📋 Requirements to Participate
- Must obtain a Marion County Health Department Temporary Food Permit
- NEW THIS YEAR: City of Palmyra Business License is required!
- Vendors must be open during peak hours (5:00–10:30 PM)
- To sign and return the vendor agreement once selected with deposit.

💲 Fees
- $1,000 deposit to secure your spot (if selected)
- Vendors pay 15% of gross sales (minus deposit)

𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙂𝙖𝙩𝙚 & 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙!🚗

The Marion County Fair Committee is currently seeking letters of interest from local non-profit organizations to manage entry and parking operations for this year’s fair.

First, we want to extend a sincere thank you to The Crossing Church for their dedication and service over the past several years. They’ve done a fantastic job, and we truly appreciate their partnership. Due to a scheduling conflict, they are unfortunately unable to participate this year.

This opportunity is a great fundraiser for a local non-profit, featuring a 50/50 profit split of all gate entry dollars. We are looking for an organization that can provide 20+ volunteers each day, Wednesday through Saturday evenings to manage parking during the fair. Organizations can estimate revenue of $6,000+ for the week.

If your organization is interested, please submit a letter of interest to the Marion County Fair Committee at [email protected].

Outline information regarding who your volunteers will be, how dollars will benefit the community, who your point of contact will be, and any specific knowledge the group has that will be helpful in this role.
