The Palmer Lake Outdoor Classic was last weekend, in....you guessed it! Palmer Lake.

I doubt the players would've cared if it was this weekend compared to last weekend, but I'm CERTAIN the spectators are glad it's not this weekend!

If you've never been out this, the Lewis-Palmer High School hocky team hosts three schools every year for a fun pond hockey tournament and what they call, "The best winter event on the Front Range."

It was postponed this year from the original date because of the warm weather we had been having, but, delayed or not, the teams always look forward to what has now grown into a great tradition on the north side of El Paso County.

This year, LP hosted Liberty, Chatfield, and Chaparral.

Still taking it all in ❄️

Just 10 days before the Palmer Lake Outdoor Classic weekend, we had open water and 65° temps. One weekend later, conditions flipped and we had enough ice to safely host a full outdoor hockey weekend.
Friday night kicked things off with the first-ever girls pond hockey tournament 👏

Saturday featured a youth camp, followed by the main event as four local high schools took the ice for the 5th Annual Palmer Lake Outdoor Classic, finishing the night with fireworks over the lake 🎆

We wrapped things up Sunday with an adult tournament and plenty of great hockey.
Huge thanks to everyone who made the weekend possible — players, families, volunteers, and fans.

This year's Palmer Lake Outdoor Classic Hockey Tournament was dedicated to 8-year-old McKayla Tucker 💙💚

The community came together to remember the teammate, friend, sister, daughter, granddaughter, and joy she was to all of those around her. McKayla's legacy of love and kindness lives on through the lives she saved and healed through donation. Her memory will never be forgotten.
