Meet Malarie and Jess, the sisters behind Angels & Outlaws Ranch Venue here in Ozawkie.

After years of city living, they found their way to the lake and recently bought the old Iron Acres Ranch on West Lake Road. Their vision is to create a space for people to gather and celebrate the moments that matter. Weddings, live music, Thursday night partner dancing, sound healing, and more.

Since moving here, my family has had the chance to get to know them, and it’s been good watching them put roots down in this community.

I’ve always believed if it’s good for the lake, it’s good for all of us.

Not all venues work the same — and asking the right questions upfront can save you stress, surprise fees, and major wedding day frustration later.

Here are a few things every couple should ask ANY venue:

💐 Can I bring my own vendors?
Some venues require you to use only vendors from their approved list.

🍽️ Are there catering or alcohol restrictions?
Ask if outside food, bartenders, or alcohol are allowed — and whether there are extra fees attached.

🎶 Are there DJ or music limitations?
Some venues have strict sound ordinances or early music cut-off times.

🪑 What’s included vs. what’s extra?
Tables, chairs, décor, setup/tear down, bridal suites, overnight stays… every venue is different!

⏰ How much time do we actually get?
Ask about setup access, rehearsal time, and cleanup expectations before signing.

🚗 Parking + guest accessibility
