Day 12 - Unity to Ontario, OR - 80 Miles

Today was a nice ride with more downhill than up. Terrain was all prairie land with more flat areas than previous days. I made it to Ontario which is on the Idaho border. Total riding for this adventure was just over 500 miles.

Unfortunately, I'm scratching here in Ontario due to the knee pain and inflammation I've been dealing with since Day 2. Nonetheless, it's been an awesome experience and great fun riding the Nonstop across Oregon! Thank you to all of you for following and encouraging me along the way!

Day 10 - John Day to Unity, OR - 50 Miles

Today's route took me over two mountain passes, from the prairie through a forest and back to prairie. I met up with the family group I met yesterday, just a few miles before our routes diverged as they turned north on the Trans Am route and I continued east.

I got an early start on another nice sunny day that started out at a chilly 50⁰ before quickly rising to around 90⁰.

Due to a combination of knee pain and location of a place to eat and sleep.

Day 9 - Mitchell to John Day, OR - 69 Miles

After a 1.75-hour shuttle ride back to Mitchell, I started the 69-mile ride back to John Day. It took just over 1.5 hours to pedal the 6-mile climb out of Mitchell, then enjoyed 25 miles mostly downhill, with the rest of the ride a very slight incline. Beautiful weather with a light wind mostly at my back.

Wish I could say the 4-day rest resolved my knee issues. The pain is tolerable so far, so I plan to keep going on ibuprofen and Acetaminophen one day at a time for now. Here are some pictures with captions that tell the rest of today's story!

Yesterday I went to the service at First Baptist Church of John Day. I was reminded there are ultimately two groups of people in this world: the saved and the lost. Those who, through the grace of God, have repented of their sin and accepted and follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (the saved), and those who are separated from God because they do not know of, or they know of but sinfully reject, Jesus Christ (the lost).

God mercifully offers His gift of salvation to anyone who will accept it. I will cheerfully walk through biblical salvation with anyone who desires to know more. Just let me know. If you don't have my personal contact info, you can direct message me using the Message button at the top of this page.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." -John 3:16-18
