Charter Day Ball is a celebration of Miami University, bringing together students, alumni, faculty, and the Oxford community.

Charter Day Ball is one of the longest standing traditions on Miami’s campus. It is a formal affair that comes around every three years to celebrate the chartering of Miami back in 1809. This event has been going on for the past 60 years and brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the entire Oxford community. Filled with live music, entertainment, food, and dancing, it is truly a night to be remembered.

This year's theme is Masterpiece, inspired by the Met Gala. It will be a celebration of art and identity in the Oxford community. With holidays quickly approaching, a ticket to the 2022 Charter Day Ball is a great gift for friends, current Miami students, or alum! Miami University Traditions has a Formal Wear Drive TOMORROW from 10 AM to 5 PM in the L&H Room in Armstrong Student Center. The purpose of the drive is to collect formal clothes to help more students to attend this year's Charter Day Ball.

In the photo below, we have two MUT members—Lauryn and Erin—hard at work during our last drive. Stop by and drop off your gently used formal clothes. We hope to see you there!

Happy Chartering Day Miami! Chartering Day celebrates the chartering of Miami as a university on February 17th, 1809. Although we’re not hosting a traditional Charter Day Ball this year, we hope you’ll join us in April 17th for our Charter Day Ball: Virtual Edition to celebrate our Miami community! You can also celebrate with us next week on 2/24 when we’ll be handing out cookies to celebrate Miami’s chartering at the Seal, Armstrong Student Center, Farmer School of Business and the Phi Delt Gates!
