UM Opera Theatre - Ole Miss UM Opera Theatre provides comprehensive training for the next generation of singing-actors ! Ford Performing Arts Center in 2003.

The nationally recognized Ole Miss Opera Theatre provides the opportunity for skill development in music, drama, movement, and design specifically related to opera performance. Fully staged productions include scenes and chamber opera each Fall and a full-length opera with orchestra each Spring. The Opera Theatre’s production of The Magic Flute was the first opera to be performed in the Gertrude C

UPDATE:

Due to the damage and recovery time from Storm Fern these past few weeks, UM Opera is sad to announce that the Aria Night performance originally scheduled for Febuary 25th had been canceled.

BUT DO NOT FRET!

This has only strengthened our resolve and has allowed us to put even more focus on our upcoming operas production of Mozart's "The Impressario" or "Der Schauspieldirektor". Rehearsals have already begun and are absolutely jam packed with excitement!!

The Opera will be performed in the Ford Center on the evening of April 24th and a matinee on April 26th.

We hope to see you there!

UM Opera Theatre was well represented at the incredible 71st annual Conference of the National Opera Association in Boston! We had the privilege of our own booth, skillfully run by UM Opera alum Caleb Pearce (BM 2023). Dr. Bunt was a judge for the annual poster competition-it was tough this year! So many excellent entries! And Dr. Bunt and Emily Clements (MM ‘23) presented their work “Letters to Lily” at the New Works Expo alongside many excellent creators such as Dan Shore, composer and librettist of out Spring ‘26 opera, who we got to meet in person! The future of opera is looking really good, y’all! We ran into so many alumni and friends new and old.

🎭✨ What an unforgettable week for Um Opéra Theatre! Although our semester shows have wrapped up, we had some incredible experiences.

We visited Northwest Mississippi Community College, where we engaged with students, performed, and introduced them to our music department. The interactions were so inspiring!

We also enjoyed an intensive two day stage combat workshop with the amazing Prof. Bill Gordon! We wish that it would never end!💪⚔️

🎭✨ What an unforgettable week for Um Opéra Theatre! Although our shows for the semester have wrapped up, we had some incredible experiences.
