Celebrating music, community, and our incredible students!

The Miami University Department of Music was proud to be represented at the first anniversary celebration of Cincinnati Public Radio at their beautiful new facility.

As part of this special event, was invited to perform, and students Kaiya Bensing and Aurora Henry-Jones took the stage, sharing their artistry with the Cincinnati community. Opportunities like this highlight the impact of live performance and the importance of connecting music-making beyond the classroom.

Spanning classical elegance, jazz-inspired energy, and stirring American anthems, this inspiring evening celebrates community, heritage, and the shared power of song.

Miami University Announces Winners of the 2026 Geoffrey P. Hall Undergraduate Artist Competition

Oxford, Ohio — The Department of Music at Miami University held the annual Geoffrey P. Hall Undergraduate Artist Competition this spring, offering one of the university’s most distinguished performance opportunities for undergraduate musicians.

Open to full-time undergraduate students studying voice or an instrument with Department of Music faculty, the competition celebrates the exceptional artistic accomplishments of Miami’s emerging performers.

Each year, competitors perform before a panel of internationally recognized artists and music professors who evaluate participants on musical expression, technical mastery, and interpretive insight. The event serves as an important milestone for young musicians within the department.

Winners receive a cash award and the honor of performing at the Department of Music Convocation, where they are recognized for their achievements before the university community.

The 2026 competition winners are:

First Place: Jonathan Liu — Saxophone

Second Place: Megan Slusarski — Cello

Third Place: Kimberly Craver — Piano

The winners will perform in a special recital during the Department of Music Convocation at Souers Recital Hall on Thursday, April 2, at 11:40 a.m.

The Miami University Department of Music congratulates the winners and all participants for their dedication, artistry, and commitment to musical excellence.
