📦🏅 East D.C. Racing Series Update!

Award packages (shirts and medals) have been dropped off at the following schools:
• Deer Park Elementary
• Country Heights Elementary
• Eastview Elementary
• Highland Elementary

Schools will be distributing the packages to students today or keeping them in the front office for pickup. Please check with the school if you believe it is needed.

For all other runners, I’ll be reaching out to your coaches soon to coordinate getting those awards to them as quickly as possible. I appreciate everyone’s patience while I get everything delivered.

While the rain may ease up by race time, the course at Yellow Creek Park is just too wet to run safely — some spots would’ve turned it into more of a swim meet than a cross-country race! 🌧️🏊‍♂️🏃‍♀️

With that in mind, today’s final race of the East DC Racing Series is cancelled. With it being late in the season, we will not reschedule this race. We apologize!

🏅 We will use the Week 3 results to determine medal and shirt winners.
📍 To help us get awards delivered, we ask that coaches and parents please message us with the school each child attends.

Our goal is to work with coaches and families this week and have medals and shirts passed out by early next week.

💙 Finally, thank you to all of our runners, families, volunteers, and sponsors for making this a wonderful racing season. We hope to see everyone back next year for even more fun, competition, and community spirit! ⚡

⚡ Final Race Reminder — East DC Racing Series ⚡

Join us this Tuesday, October 7th at Yellow Creek Park for the 4th and final race of the season! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

📋 Check-In: 4:45 – 5:15 PM
⏰ Race Times: First race starts at 5:30 (races may be combined due to limited sunlight/weather).

🎉 Special Guests: Kona Ice will be on site!
🏅 Rewards: All runners earn a ribbon + a FREE Tropical Smoothie Café 12oz smoothie (54 Location). Must redeem by October 31st Top 10 finishers also take home a medal and a free t-shirt (pick up shirts at the finish line behind my truck).

🌤️ Weather: We’ll post an update here by Tuesday at 3:30 PM if conditions affect the event.

🚨 Final Race of the East DC Racing Series — Tuesday, October 7th!
It all comes down to this — our 4th and final race of the East DC Racing Series is happening at Yellow Creek Park, and we couldn’t be more excited to close out an incredible season with all of you! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⚡

📋 Registration / Sign-in: 4:45 – 5:15 PM
⏰ Race Times (approximate):

If run separately:
Girls K–2: 5:30
Boys K–2: 5:45
Girls 3–5: 6:00
Boys 3–5: 6:15

If combined due to limited sunlight/weather:
K–2 (Boys & Girls): 5:30
3–5 (Boys & Girls): 5:45

📍 Check-In & Numbers:
Runners will keep the same number they’ve used all season. Just check in at the table, give us your name, and we’ll get you set.

New runners will be assigned a number at registration. Forgot yours? No worries — we’ve got everything saved!

🌤️ Weather Update:
We will be monitoring the weather closely. An update will be posted here on Tuesday around 3:30 PM with the latest information and any adjustments if needed.

Kona Ice of Owensboro & Madisonville — Cool down with a snow cone after your race!

🏅 Finale Rewards:
Every runner earns their ribbon plus a FREE 12oz smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Café (Highway 54 location). Show your ribbon or medal to redeem through October 31st!

Top 10 finishers in each race will also take home a medal and a free t-shirt! (Medals and shirts will be handed out after each race — just find one of our volunteers behind my truck at the finish line to pick up your shirt.)

WOW — what an amazing night for our community! 🙌 The 1st Ever Owensboro/Daviess County Elementary City-County Championship was a huge success, and it was incredible to see so many young runners giving it their all on the course.

This was the first ever championship for our elementary schools, and it couldn’t have gone better. Thank you to all of our runners, families, volunteers, and schools who made this event such a memorable one. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⚡

👉 And stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more details soon about our rescheduled 4th and final race to officially conclude the East DC Racing Series. We can’t wait to wrap up the season together! That race will be Oct 7th.

🚨 Race Update for East DC Racing Series 🚨
Due to weather, yesterday’s race had to be cancelled — but the good news is we will make it up on Tuesday, October 7th! That race will now serve as the 4th and final race of the East DC Racing Series. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⚡

📅 Here’s what’s coming up:

Tuesday, September 30th — This will still be our 1st ever Owensboro/Daviess County Elementary Championship at Yellow Creek Park! 🏅 We’d love to see all of our runners there representing the East DC Racing Series.
