A little bit about we must do each year prior to the tournament
We have to first secure a location/course that allows free beer/catered food, has enough carts, and is affordable but also available. We prefer a weekend tournament, but many courses only do Monday, or Wed or even Friday. Some may meet all the needs but not allow for a morning tournament. We prefer our golfers not be in the 100-degr
ee heat too long so prefer morning. Securing the location alone takes seemingly endless calls, meetings, and paperwork. Another task is getting enough volunteers. We rarely have enough for an event I’d this size so that leaves a ton to be done by only a few. There are many things to build and update - brochure, sponsors agenda on the website’, “‘About’ and ‘Home’ pages on the website, registrar page on the site, The actual Keaton Classic “Event Page’ itself has to be rebuilt every year, the email invitations to golfers (still hasn’t gone out yet!), Flyer/posters built or rebuilt each year along with ads and every time we get a sponsors/donor we have to update the site and the flyer, social media ads, all the while reaching to get sponsors, raffle prizes, silent auctions items, gift bags ordered, donations or purchasing of items to go inside the gift bags and working full time, so I know I personally appreciate everyone’s patience as we try to achieve it all. Because marketing is my line of work much of the building/updating falls on me, and I’m only one person. That is why I appreciate anyone who’s able to help in any other capacity. � Side note: This page is where we primarily post ads, flyers, pictures front the tournament’s location, but keep in mind the posts get pushed down as new posts are added, so a call may be quicker if you have a question leather than scrolling to find if we have responded! Always check the website first as I try to make it the first thing to be updated. (Although this year I was updating the old website by mistake!! That’s what happens when you try to cram so much in a day! We focus first on trying to get enough done to get it started and updating/doing the rest as we can. Try planning a wedding in three months!
