This year, the 2026 Kansas City Japan Festival will step into the ring with a powerful new theme: Sumo! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 3rd, 10am–6pm. You won't want to miss it.

The Greater Kansas City Japan Festival invites scholars, practitioners, and subject-matter experts to submit proposals for lectures and presentations for our 2026 festival.

Sumo is our featured theme, however, we welcome proposals for lectures on any topic related to Japanese History, Culture, Arts, Cuisine, Travel, Customs, or Rituals. For more information and to apply: https://forms.gle/PKejGfQ2kuHJiDAz9
