A Personal Thank You to the WBBTC Team

From the bottom of my heart—thank you for believing in this vision and helping to bring it to life year after year.

To my core WBBTC team—Dominique, Lauren, Hayley, Dre, and Garvey—you are the backbone of this movement. The late nights, the early mornings, the hard decisions, the hard laughs, the grace under pressure—you show up fully, and with heart. We work months in advance to create what becomes a single, seamless 12-hour day of magic—and somehow, y’all make it look effortless.

To Dominique, Lauren, and Hayley—this team of dynamic, fierce, intelligent, unstoppable women: YOU are the strategy. YOU are the soul. YOU are the standard. Your leadership is not only powerful—it’s transformative. This is what happens when women lead with purpose, precision, and passion. This event thrives because of your brilliance and your belief.

To Dre and Garvey—thank you for standing tall alongside us, showing up with humility, and holding space without ego. You support this woman-led team with your full chest, and we see you. Special shoutout to Garvey, not in the photo because he was literally on the move, handling business behind the scenes.

To Juby—thank you for showing up and showing out year after year as a volunteer. Your dedication, heart, and follow-through earned you an official spot on the team. You are proof that consistency creates legacy.

To every single volunteer—you are the heartbeat of this day. Whether you ran the scoreboard, passed out water, checked in teams, or quietly filled the gaps behind the scenes—you mattered. Your service helped hold this vision upright and made the experience feel like family.

As we reflect on how far we’ve come, I’m reminded of the words of Mahatma Gandhi, etched into history and the walls of Gostiny Dvor:

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

We are walking proof.
This isn’t just a tournament—it’s legacy work.
This isn’t just a staff—it’s a movement led by women, uplifted by community, and powered by purpose.

The countdown to 1/2 a decade begins.

OFFICIAL RECAP: 4th Annual WBBTC X Jr. Knicks Clinic – Saturday, June 28, 2025 Two Saturdays ago, we closed out our month-long Juneteenth celebration with the 4th Annual WBBTC X Jr. Knicks Clinic—and it was nothing short of powerful. The day was filled with purpose, play, and community pride, as we came together to pour into our youth and celebrate legacy through sport.

Yesterday, was amazing! We do it for the youth! I hardly took photos because our videographer/ photographer captured it all from beginning to end! I can’t wait for to send all of the magic. In the meantime, this will do!

I’m so happy and in gratitude that we were able to have the Jr. Knicks Team and Knicks alum Larry Johnson teach our kids for the 3rd year in the row!!! And just like that June is over. 🧘🏿‍♀️

Thank you to my team for holding it up and sticking through it all! We did it, despite all of the odds before we even arrived at the date! We did it! This is a collective effort that makes all of this happen! I’d be remiss to not mention our WBBTC Volunteers for working on the day of to help us bring it across the finish line!

Now, it’s time to rest because I have loads of ideas for 2025! 😩

🚨 Exciting News! 🚨

The Westchester Basketball Tournament Committee is gearing up for our 3rd Annual Basketball Tournament and Family Fun Day, commemorating Juneteenth on Saturday, June 29, 2024! This year’s theme is "Everybody... Not Like Us" Edition, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our amazing community.

Reflecting on last year's success, we’re incredibly grateful for your support. Thanks to the Madison Square Garden of Dreams Foundation and the Jr. Knicks, our younger youth enjoyed a fantastic basketball clinic with Knicks alumni John Starks. Plus, we sent two youth players to MVP Basketball Camp and the Jr. Knicks camp during the summers of 2022 and 2023. Our second annual tournament saw three teams receiving medals and trophies, all made possible by your generous donations and volunteer efforts.

In 2024, we aim to make this event even bigger and better, creating a cherished tradition that kicks off summer while honoring the rich history of Juneteenth in partnership with the Ossining Juneteenth Council.

We need your help to make this happen! Your contributions, whether in donations or volunteer time, are vital to our success. Let’s come together once again to make this year’s event unforgettable.
