All races will begin at 8:00am, with rolling starts available for those who might be late or want to start in smaller groups!

Remember that we are still exercising covid safety, so only runners in a waiting group can be in the race start area, and should distance as appropriate.

Race Courses:

This is simply due to logistics of ensuring adequate aid for our runners, as well as providing restroom facilities, etc. Runners will head towards Orting, crossing two major intersections on the course, Pioneer Way E and Military Road E on the way into Orting. They will pass the aid station at McMillin (mile 4.5 approx) and continue toward Orting, following the Foothills trail until the edge of the Whitehawk neighborhood and edge of Orting Middle school, following the trail toward the parking lots for the school, turning after the 2nd parking lot entrance and following the outer sidewalk back to Foothills Trail, then back to the race start. They will then repeat this course to complete a marathon distance.

Half Course: Runners will head towards Orting, crossing two major intersections on the course, E Pioneer and Military on the way into Orting. They will pass the aid station at mile 4.5 (approx) and continue toward Orting, following the Foothills trail until the edge of the Whitehawk neighborhood and edge of Orting Middle school, following the trail toward the parking lots for the school, turning after the 2nd parking lot entrance and following the outer sidewalk back to Foothills Trail, then back to the race start.

5k Course: Runners will head 1.55 miles towards Orting, turning at a marked point on the trail.

10k Course: Runners in the 10k course will head out from trailhead, heading towards Orting for 3.1 miles, crossing Pioneer Way E and Military Road E, turning just a bit less than a half mile past Military.

Race instructions for Passport to Adventure race (Aug 31, 2025)

Hello! This email will include all of the race information for the Passport to Adventure race, for Sunday Aug 31, 2025! But before we jump into race info, we do want to thank everyone for participating. We will raise just over $600 for Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) with this event, and we can't thank everyone nearly enough for this! Ok, onto the race info:

The race will begin and end at the Orting Skate Park, in Orting, Wa. The address for the park is:
425 Washington Ave SE, Orting, WA 98360

We will be using the small shelter directly across from the skate area, and there should be plenty of parking, as well as a porta-pottie available. Due to the current fishing season as salmon spawn, there is a chance the parking lot may fill in the morning, so if that happens we will have to rely on overflow parking plans: Overflow parking is available on the street near the parking lot, or about a block away from the start there are additional parking spots adjacent to the Orting parks in the center of town. Please DO NOT park in the Eagles parking lot as that is not available to the public.

Start times: We continue to use our 'rolling start' system of sending out waves of runners as they become ready. The times below are general guidelines for when we anticipate each race distance to able to start. If you need to start earlier than 8:00am for your 5k or 10k distance, feel free to jump in early!

Early Start and Half Marathon Times: 7:00am -8:00am
10k and 5k Times: 8:00am - 9:00am

Please arrive up to 15 minutes before you want to run, allowing us time to issue bibs, give any instructions, etc. As soon as we have a group ready to launch, we will release that group and start building the next group. Remember that we are still exercising covid safety, so only runners in a waiting group can be in the race start area, and should distance as appropriate.

Race Courses:
Half Marathon Course - Runners will depart the skate park towards Buckley, to the course turn around at 6.55 miles, and back to the skate park to finish.

5k Course: Runners in the 5k head out of Orting towards Buckley for 1.55 miles and then return.

10k Course: Runners in the 10k course will head out from the skate park, running towards Buckley and turn in the area of the Ski Lake, then return to the finish.

Aid Stations:
The Start/Finish area will have water, gels and other snacks.

Crocker Aid Station: A manned aid station will be at the Crocker trail entrance, just shy of 2.5 miles into the course. This aid station is available for 10k and half marathon runners

Arline Road Aid Station: A manned aid station will be at Arline Road for all half marathon participants.

Distances to aid station:

Kaboom Run last minute update:
A sharp eyed runner noted that our email indicated a 2pm finish, while Webscorer indicates 3:30pm. Webscorer is correct - The official finish of the event is 3:30pm. I inadvertently used the time our access to the shelter ends as the end of the event.. I do apologies for this confusion.

We will have a pop up tent to set up to provide shade if we still have runners on the course after 2pm, and we will obviously wait for the last runner to complete their event.

Again, sorry for the confusion!

Race info for Kaboom! run at Bradley Lake Park:

Happy 4th of July to all of our participants! We look forward to seeing you on the course and at the aid station/start/finish through the day! There will be limited Day Of Race Registration for those still considering!

Race Location: Bradley Lake Park, in Puyallup, Wa - This park is adjacent to a Lowe's store, and behind Walmart for reference. The posted address is: 531 31st Ave SE, Puyallup, WA 98374
There is parking available in the parking lot, which should open around 6am. If the gate isn't open, there is side street parking available as well! We will be in the picnic shelter near trail for the morning, and will have a pop up tent if needed in the afternoon.

Race times:
We will continue to do waves of runners as they become available, so you can start anytime during the morning as long as you can complete your last loop before 2pm! That said, we do have recommended times, and we will be more than happy to accommodate late arrivals as well as early starts:

All Distances begin in waves at 8:00am
Early Bird start will be available at 7:15am for anyone needing more time
Late starts available for all distances as long as participants can complete by 2pm!

Since we will be launching runners in waves as they become ready, we just ask that you allow a few minutes for us to hand out bibs, answer questions, etc before you line up with folks.

This course is a 'friendly' course, in that it is only .91 miles per loop, which means you will see folks all throughout your race, and hopefully make a few friends! This race is a tribute to the Loop the Lake course that was held for years in the greater Portland area by local-ish legend Steve Walters.

Loop definition:
Big: .90 mile
Small: .23 mile

Loops required per distance:
5k: 3 Big + 2 Small (Total distance approx. 3.2 miles
10k: 7 Big (Total distance approx. 6.3 miles)
Half Marathon: 15 Big (Total distance approx. 13.5 miles ) OR 14 Big + 2 Small (Total distance approx. 13.1 miles)
Full Marathon: 29 Big (Total distance appox. 26.1 miles) with option to do a Small Victory loop for 26.35 total)

Aid Station/Restrooms:
With a loop of just under a mile, the aid station will be available when you need it, providing water and Gatorade, as well as snacks and gels to keep you moving. There are restrooms in the park, including a set near the Shelter and adjacent to the 'Small' loop.

Thank you again for joining us, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!
-Rob and Kandi
