At the Northern Maine Children’s Water Festival, students actively explore the many different ways water is important in their lives. This year’s festival, which will take on Tuesday, October 11 at the University of Maine, will include an interactive exhibit hall, our “Dripial Pursuit” quiz show, a variety of hands-on classroom presentations, and a live stage show—all with a water theme. Students
engage in hands-on activities on topics such as wetland habitats, lakes, wildlife, groundwater, and aquatic life. Free materials are
available in a teacher resource room. There is no charge to send students to the Festival! The Festival's principal objectives are:
- To provide student and teacher interaction with water professionals;
- To demonstrate water's properties, values and uses, and threats to water quality;
- To provide teachers with resource materials;
- To develop career interests in environmental protection;
- To promote networking among teachers, students and presenters.
