Don't we have the most colorful recycling bin? 🌈 Yecy has been cutting die cuts like crazy and has finished the regular die cuts…now on kit die cuts! Hopefully she'll be done by the end of next week and then we go back into "filling and shipping order" mode.

That's the good news! And then, because the universe STILL isn’t convinced that I’m resilient enough and cannot manage to just let me live my life, here's the not so good news.

As you know, I went through an extensive mold remediation over the past 11 months, and they tried to evict me when I withheld my rent.

I countersued for almost $2K in actual out-of-pocket expenses, taking 57 days off of work, and whatever damages the court thought was appropriate for the almost 11 month repair process and the disruption that it caused to my life.

The judge's limit was $50K. She awarded me $70.31 and said the couple of months that she let me only pay 1/2 rent was enough.

I've already filed a notice to appeal with Florida's Sixth District Court of Appeal. Good thing I'm getting pretty good at this "pro se litigant" thing :-)

To add insult to injury, they're forcing me to move out by the end of next month.

So, I'm going to start packing and getting prepared and as soon as Yecy tells me she's done with the remaining die cuts, I'll be back in the office shipping out orders like a mad woman!

For me, Labor Day weekend has always been more than the “official end of summer” and barbecue. It’s about the “labor” of love that is Scrap Your Trip.

I received our very first order on September 6, 2002 and when I saw I received an order I screamed out.

Now, I was six months pregnant at the time and everyone in the came running into my office because they thought something was wrong. 😂

I have to say that the past two years have been a LOT harder than the first two, when I was trying to get it off the ground.

Back then, if I failed, it had a small impact. Now I have people who depend on me for their livelihood and thousands of people who depend on me to help tell the stories of their lives.

We’ve worked SO hard over the past two years to repair all the damage done to my labor of love in my absence…and we’re SO close!

We’ve just got to get through the slowdown that happens every year between now and the end of the year and we’ll be silver…as in next year will be our 25th anniversary 🩶

We’ve got some new Disney papers in the works…and a couple of other ideas up our sleeve, so stay tuned 😁

Ever since the daily contractor visits stopped, I’ve been working hard on being able to clear our backlog of orders. In order to do that most efficieny, I’ve been working on all the May-July orders as a whole. Here’s where we’re at:

- About 35% of May-July orders have already been shipped.
- In-stock items for all remaining May-July orders have been pulled. I’m shipping one batch tonight and hope to finish the second batch over the weekend.
- Of our 1800+ SKU’s with die cuts, we need to cut about 600 of them for May-July orders and another 77 for August…and that’s going to take a bit :-) Probably 2-3 weeks to get through them all.
- While Yecy is working on cutting all that, I’m going to go through the August orders and send out any that have everything available.

We had reached a point where it felt like we were almost there…and then my house debacle began. Hopefully the universe will just let me get back to work this time :-)

Y’all are cracking me up! Everyone is someone’s favorite person…and I swear I’m Mr. Murphy’s! As In Murphy’s Law 😂

I’ve had Tiffany working on deleting everything from our site that we didn’t sell any of in 2024 and 2025. And guess what happened?

While she was working on it, you guys ordered 315 of those items. And three of you have emailed so far this week saying “I can’t find “insert blank here” on your website…and I could’ve sworn I’ve seen it before!” How funny is that? 😂

So now we have over 200 die cuts to cut just one of 😂

It’s going to take awhile for Yecy to get caught up in the cutting room from being on vacation (her girls rocked it at this year’s fine arts convention)…and now all these “onesies” on top of that.

No PPFN for me tonight (pizza party Friday night.) Sarily and I are going to be working all day on tomorrow, getting out as many orders as we can. Just like we’ve done several times in the past, any order we have everything in stock for, we’ll work on getting sent out, regardless of what month it is.

And as if we hadn’t been hit with enough bad news in the paper crafting industry lately, with Notions Marketing’s fire, but I read earlier in the week that Neenah Paper, maker of AstroBrights, etc., was hit by a tornado! 🌪️

I know it takes us a while to create our own products, but I have never been so grateful to be self-reliant 😀

You have no idea what you’re capable of. 😊

All too often, we as women, shortchange ourselves and believe we’re not capable. Because for many of us, we’ve been told our whole life, directly or indirectly, that we’re not. Compared to the men, of course.

To that, I say “HOOEY!”

I just spent almost 15 hours, in two hearings and two days of trial, against my landlord’s lawyer with 10+ years of experience…and won.

Now granted, I should have won, but we all know that’s not always how the legal system works, and it two full days of trial for me to prove them wrong.

Eviction claim denied…just waiting for the judge to decide on damages. 🤞💰🙏

Oh…and I somehow managed to fix laser #3 😀

I’ve had to take over 50 days off work this year for the mold remediation and another week or so to prepare for trial…all time I could have…should have…been working on getting our backlog of orders out the door.

And now that it’s finally come to an end, that’s exactly what I can get back to doing!

I end every post the same way…and you truly don’t understand the depth to which I mean it.

Just sent the shipping confirmation emails for the last of the April orders. 🥳

I have a hot date with my washer and dryer on Sunday and on Monday, I’m going to take apart our laser machines for a deep cleaning. Yecy is on vacation all week, so I have plenty of time to get them cleaned out. We do a surface cleaning weekly, but I haven’t done a deep cleaning since we moved last year and they really need it. Plus, I’m hoping that I can figure out what’s wrong with Laser #3…and that it’s not a $1500 CO2 cartridge 😬🤞

177 days without a kitchen sink and washing my dishes in the bathtub is over. I was so excited that months of contractors in my house was finally going to end yesterday, but two of the four didn’t show up. So, yet another week of staying home on Tuesday and Wednesday and hoping people actually show up and do a decent job.

I’m painting the cabinets myself since I don’t want them to look like the first job they did on my shower.

This debacle is almost over and I can finally put my focus back where it belongs…getting our backlog of orders out the door.

I’ll be in the office, diligently working on getting as many orders shipped as I can, until next Tuesday.

In case you haven’t heard, there was a recent tragedy in our industry. Notions Marketing, the largest creative arts distributor in the world, carrying 58,700+ crafting products from 600+ brands, suffered a catastrophic fire at their distribution center, which spans over 1.2 million square feet. Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire, however, they announced last week that they are pausing fulfillment for at least six months and laid off a lot of their staff.

This is going to be an extremely challenging time for our industry as manufacturers and retailers work their way through this.

We are very fortunate to have been manufacturing our own products for years, so it will have less of an impact on us. However, pretty much the entire supply of Bazzill and American Crafts cardstock was sitting in that warehouse.

We have a pretty big “stash” of cardstock, so we’re okay for a while, but color choices could get interesting in the upcoming months 🫤
