It's been five months since we closed The GOAT, and we believe it's a fair assessment that the J&Ts Cafe move has been a success. We enjoy teaming with them and wish them continued growth and prosperity in their new chapter.
As many of you have likely noticed, our contractors have been working diligently to complete the renovation of the second 3 bedroom Airbnb unit upstairs, and that project is nearly finished. Once complete, they will shift their focus to the west side of the main floor to begin renovations there.
We'd love to share exact details about those upcoming changes, but we're still working the plans. What I can tell you is this: while we completely agree that Oregon needs a place for gathering in the evening, it also needs reliable staff—and we can all agree that shouldn't be Mike. Here's where things stand:
We are looking at and open to different options. Currently we're discussing the idea of opening a rent-able venue for private events. It will be similar to other options but on a smaller, more intimate scale with a more affordable price point. We'd also like to continue hosting fundraisers to support our community. We've discussed ideas like occasional live music nights and co****le leagues.

So this is where we currently stand. You are now caught up with where everything stands with our commercial building and plans. As we make decisions, we will post and make sure you are in the loop on what's happening. We thank you for your support over the last few years and your continued patience.

So now that J&Ts Cafe has made their announcement, please allow us to take our turn. Our goal when we bought the building was to do what we felt was best for the community. So when we closed we explored a few options and most have heard about them. But we go back to what’s best for the community. In our opinion, having J&Ts Cafe on the square is what’s best. We are excited for what the future holds.

So the final curtain call is over. We want to thank everyone that joined us for the highs and lows during these last roughly 4 years. Thank you to everyone who worked side by side teaching Laura and I. Thank you to everyone who chose to dine, drink, throw bags, shoot pool, throw darts, watch a game, or just hung out after a long day. I know it wasn’t always easy with me but we do appreciate everything. Lastly I want to thank Laura for standing side by side with me through it all.
There is more to come. Laura and I will always look to help the community where we can.

GOAT ANNOUNCEMENT

As promised, we continue to strive to keep our patrons and community updated on the status of The GOAT as much as possible. We are in final negotiations for the lease of part of the lower level where “The GOAT” currently exists. We will have some modifications to the building for the upcoming transition. To help facilitate this, Saturday August 9th will be our final day.
We agreed to host a couple of upcoming private events and will still follow through with our commitment to those events.

We would like to thank everyone who spent time with us as employees, customers, and friends. It has been a wonderful experience owning and operating The GOAT and we look forward to participating in the continued improvement of our community. More information will be released as we complete this transition.

GOAT ANNOUNCEMENT

As is probably evident in the last few months, we have struggled with low staffing, competing priorities, and medical issues that have impacted our hours of operation. All of these have caused us to adjust our formal Hours of Operation from 6-7 days a week down to 5 days a week. Once the school year starts, we anticipate needing to adjust down to 3-4 evenings a week with no lunch shift, again, due to staffing, and with potentially even more adjustments needed. Our focus with this establishment has been to provide a place for the community to gather, to create a fun atmosphere for all, and to give back to the community through events, fundraisers, etc. With this focus in mind, we are beginning our search to identify the right person/family/team/company to take the bar and restaurant back to the level where it can continue to serve our community in a multitude of ways. Here in the next few days and weeks more information will be communicated as we navigate next steps.
