Beechmont Country Club has long been known for its Stanley Thompson–designed golf course, its deep roots on Cleveland’s East Side and its long-standing place in Cleveland's golf history.
But as the club crossed the 100-year mark in 2023, its leadership took a hard look at what the property needed and faced a defining choice: change gradually or act decisively. It chose the latter.
That choice kicked off a more than $12 million renovation touching nearly every part of the club and spanning dining, fitness, tennis and social spaces.
Work began last year on the golf course, where Beechmont set out to restore the original Stanley Thompson design after decades of incremental changes.
Inside the clubhouse, Beechmont is updating nearly every major space. Changes include a new wraparound bar, a refreshed ballroom and lobby, a rebuilt pro shop with golf simulators and more.
Just outside the clubhouse will be a new gathering area known as Champions Grove, built around a large fire pit designed for informal events and post-round socializing. The renovation also includes a complete rebuild of the men’s locker room and lower-level dining space.
