After a full day of adventure, a mystery breaks out over dinner.

Three courses by Chef Mike Ptaszek of Pasta & Prana, and a cast of actors hidden among the guests who won't reveal themselves until nightfall. Somewhere between the first course and dessert, the table splits into two teams to figure out who isn't who they seem.

18 seats left. That's it.

The menu for Homecoming Harvest just came in from Chef Mike Ptaszek, and we had to share it with you right away.

Every ingredient comes from local farms & makers. Here’s what’s coming to the table on Saturday, November 14th at Wunderland Resort in Old Fort, NC...

The First Clue
Tre Funghi Fritti
Three types of local mushrooms in a light pakora style batter, pear balsamic reduction, tulsi pesto crema

The Plot Thickens
Heritage Rice Risotto
Lee’s One Fortune Farm heritage rice, soffritto, winter Asian greens

Choose your path: Seared Denver Steak or Black Trumpet Farms Lion’s Mane

The Sweet Confession
Seasonal Small Batch Ice Cream
Handcrafted, with local fruit compote

And yes, there’s a mystery to solve before dessert. Not everyone at the table is who they seem…muahahaha.

This is an intimate night, only 25 seats total, and 20 are left.

Oh and, we just solidified your yoga instructor for Sunday. Welcome AnDrew Jason Crittenden

Meet Laurie Kirby, founder and producer of FestForums - in Santa Barbara.

(Where I sat on a panel in February discussing how to launch & scale an event like FlowJam Healing Arts Festival from the ground up)

Laurie spent 20 years as a lawyer before landing on the board of a film festival in Newport, Rhode Island, and that detour led her to build a gathering place for an industry that, in her words, used to work in silos.

She walked me through her two non-negotiables - budget and mission. She uses her budget as her roadmap, has been debt-free since her second year, and warns against the ā€œmission creepā€ that shows up
with every shiny object.

One of my favorite lines from her:

ā€œFestival producers see a field and then see a festival. I look at a field and I see a lawsuit.ā€

Her first question for anyone who wants to start a festival is simply: ā€œwhy?ā€

She got real about her hardest early lesson - not trusting herself enough at the start, and slowly learning that she ā€œreally did have the goods to do it.ā€

It’s why she leads her team with kindness: be kind, be nice,
be helpful.

What stuck with me most - when I asked how live events have changed the way she sees herself, she said the connections and opportunities it has brought have been incredible.

And she’s proud of who she has become in the process, and that the skill that matters most to her is kindness
towards others.

Laurie also shared where she sees events heading in the next 5 to 10 years, from data and safety to niche festivals and the rise of sober experiences.

FestForums celebrates its 10th anniversary February 3-5, 2027 in Santa Barbara.

If you’ve ever looked at a field and pictured a festival - this one’s for you.

Thank you for the incredible interview Laurie Kirby and we can’t wait to get back to FestForumsĀ®

FlowJam: Behind the Experience Podcast has officially launched!

This is a professionally produced & edited podcast that deserves your ears and attention.

Hosted by Meredith Walsh, Behind the Experience invites entrepreneurs and artists in the festival and event production space to discuss stories, learnings, and experiences in creating and managing events, festivals, venues, and retreats.

Meredith's journey began when she was inspired to raise donations for a school in Tanzania, and subsequently created Flow Jam Healing & Arts Festival. She has been in the festival and event space for 13+ years and has seen others grow and heal in her curated spaces.

Learn of what it's like to live and work in the event industry and hear stories of transcendent experiences as well as lessons learned while creating and shaping these spaces.

Our first guests:

Erin Haag - Speaking on pricing to profit instead of pricing to be "affordable"

Shawn Verbrugghe - Visionary behind the space we hosted our Wonder Weekend July 4th event at

And

Jennifer Jane Pickering founder of LEAF Festival speaking on the future of large-scale events and what's next for Lake Eden
Next up Melissa McKinney's episode launches at the end of the month.

Link in the comments to listen. Please give us a 5 star review as well so that we can reach more people.
Thank you!

Special thanks to our producer Clifford Howard who came into my life at exactly the right moment when I was ready to finally complete a dream that's been on my mind for years.

What makes us different than any other festival you've been to?

🌿✨ From Strangers to Friends at FlowJam ✨🌿

"One of my favorite things about FlowJam is how it brings people together in the most authentic, unexpected ways. I’ve seen it time and time again—strangers show up not knowing anyone, and by the end of the weekend, they’ve found a community that feels like family.

There’s just something special about the energy at FlowJam. Between the music, movement, and mindfulness, real connections are made that go beyond the surface. It’s not just a festival—it’s a place where friendships are born and nurtured."
