Drawing and painting people can be intimidating. Join classically trained artist, Anna Youngers, as she walks you through the process of creating a portrait from life.

This 3-day workshop will introduce students to a step-by-step approach for simplifying a complex subject. Working from a live model, instruction will touch on all aspects of the process-from initial model setup, to the composition & block-in, and final rendering stages. Topics of discussion will include lighting, color-mixing, paint application, and the organization of values & color relationships. There will also be an overview of tools & materials (e.g. painting supports, brushes, palette & color choice).

Daily demonstrations and personalized one-on-one instruction are sure to make this a valuable and engaging experience for all skill levels. Prior experience of drawing from life is encouraged but not required. A list of suggested materials will be provided with registration.

Classes are filling up. Don't wait, register today for Summer Youth Art Classes!

Registration is based on what grade your child is going into in the 26-27 school year.

If you would like your child to attend but need financial assistance, please register your child by calling the box office at 712-332-7029.
Financial assistance to all youth classes is available thanks to a generous donation from Gary and Pat Ray. Simply tell the box office your are registering utilizing the Gary and Pat Ray scholarship.
