Redman Triathlon

Redman Triathlon The REDMAN Triathlon in Oklahoma City combines a challenging swim, a "rolling hills" yet fast bike course and a closed, flat run course.

In the world of competitive sports there are few events at this distance to participate in making the stage and profile for these events even more grand. The triathletes bring passion and intensity to these grueling courses and the population of those committed to the endeavor grows everyday The market place for athletes aspiring to test their limits of athleticism and meet their elusive endurance

goals, is well on it’s way to a fevered pitch. OKLAHOMA is a word that was coined by the native American missionary Allen Wright. He combined two Choctaw words, "ukla" meaning man and "humá" meaning red to form the word that first appears in an 1866 Choctaw treaty. Oklahoma means REDMAN and REDMAN means a challenging swim, a "rolling hills" yet fast bike course, and a closed, flat run course, combined with service and support that will exceed the expectations of the seasoned Full distance or the newbie Half distance triathlete alike. In the previous nine years of the presentation of the Redman Triathlon, more than $225,000 has been donated to charity. Through a thoughtful and deliberate process Friends of Multisport and Redman Triathlon select a charity that allows for a broad community based benefit while serving the needs of Oklahoma City and beyond. Join us for the 12th Annual REDMAN Triathlon in Oklahoma City as we host the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships on September 24th, 2016.

RM Athletes,

First, I’ll ask for forgiveness in taking sooooo long to release/post this note………..

Many of you have been asking about the Friends of Multisport event schedule. You’ve known from emails and social media that we cancelled the 2020 and ’21 events due in large part to COVID. And, when it comes to the consideration of moving forward, we do have concerns about how long these surges and variations are going to go on. It all fosters a climate of uncertainty.

But COVID isn’t the only factor at play here. Other forces have had an impact on our magical event. Chief among them, is a waning interest in triathlon. Friends of Multisport is not alone. As you can imagine, scale is what makes these events possible, when the events are as ambitious as RM, and the expectation of production value matches. In the absence of scale, our event suffered significant, insurmountable losses in the last several years of its production, and hence, our conclusion to stop.

As we learn to accommodate the presence of the pandemic, we’ll continue to consider the production of our smaller previously established events, especially the 24 hour race, and see if there is sufficient energy to stage them.

The most important aspect of this communication, however, is to deliver the message to all of our athletes, just how integral and inspirational each of you has been to a most amazing event.

We’ll miss those long, powerful, hero making days, full of inspiration, determination and endurance.

Each of us, the committee and you, will look for ways to make new memories, doing other fun, challenging and fascinating stuff with our time and efforts.

Respect, thankfulness, and well wishes to each of our participants!

It’s been an amazing run!

Dave & The Crew

Today would've been the 16th annual Redman Triathlon weekend.

We haven't had this day (or the months leading up to it) "off" in a long time and it's definitely bittersweet.

And of course the weather is incredible - high of 79F and 5 mph wind... it would've been an awesome day to race.

We miss seeing you all, hearing your stories of overcoming challenges, witnessing your triumphs and your struggles.

The entire crew at Friends of Multisport hopes that you're staying healthy and continuing to train for when we can all race again.

If you'd still like to support us in some way, please sign up for our last event of the year - 24 The Hard Way (virtually or out at Bluff Creek Park in Oklahoma City)! More information can be found on our website or the page.

Redman Weekend & Events Are Canceled for 2020

It was tough to postpone Okie Relays and Angel Fire Endurance, but canceling Redman 2020 is even tougher!

Given the uncertainty of schedules in the fall, the potential for complying with further health guidelines, and the people-power and financial/facility preparations required to stage the Redman Tri, postponement really isn't an option. So we've made the call to cancel Redman Weekend.

We recognize that it will be tough for those of you who've already entered to hear this news. Of course, if you've already registered, we'll be refunding your entry fee. Stand by and you should see your refund appear in your method of payment within a few days.

Thanks for your understanding in these unprecedented times. Who knows what the future will bring? Hopefully the distances we talk about next time won't have anything to do with social distancing.

Keep training!
Dave & The Crew

PS: 24 The Hard Way is still on the books. So watch your inbox and social media pages for updates on that front.
