Ways To Title Poems 📜

In this workshop, we’ll discuss the impact titles have on poems, explore 10 poem title categories, and write in response to some wild titles. We’ll conclude by titling some poems. 📝

Jason Stephenson taught English and creative writing for thirteen years and now supports English teachers in his role at Oklahoma’s state education agency. A product of southeastern Oklahoma, Jason began attending Red Dirt Poetry open mics in 2017, and currently serves as the co-director of education. 🍎

Hotdogs 🌭 and various sides 🥗will be provided, however if you have specific dietary restrictions or want to show off your culinary skill to your RD friends, bring a dish.

So join us on the 19th wearing your Sunday best! Bring poetry, musical instruments, outdoor games, pens and notebooks, and whatever else you want for a fun day at the park!

Shamrocks & Shenanigans: an Irish Poetry Workshop ☘️

This workshop explores the history & cultural significance of Irish poetry, from ancient Gaelic verse to the playful tradition of the limerick. Participants will learn how poetry has shaped Irish storytelling, humor, & identity. The session will conclude with limerick writing & sharing. Join in & have a good craic! 🇮🇪

Andrew Morris Gilman, a poet & visual artist, grew up in OKC in the 90s. Andrew links his awareness of his own Irish heritage to the tricolor bumper sticker on his father’s 1988 Volvo station wagon & the steady spin of U2 cassettes on the stereo at home. Among others, those early influences continue to inform & spark Andrew’s creative voice and love of artistic discovery. 🎨
