Hello all. We’ve been a bit quiet over the past few weeks as we continue planning and organizing for the upcoming remodel.

First, architectural plans are completed and submitted to the State for approval. Once our plans are approved, we’ll start the build.

We continue to feel grateful for the support of our Oconto community and the interest surrounding this project. Thank you again for your ongoing encouragement—we will keep you updated right up until A’Pizzeria Italiano opens its doors.

Every pizza carries a story, and perhaps no pizza tells a story more than the Margherita.

According to story passed down through generations, in 1889 Queen Margherita of Savoy visited the city of Naples. A local pizzaiolo, Raffaele Esposito, prepared three pizzas for the queen. The one she reportedly enjoyed most was topped with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil—ingredients whose colors mirrored the red, white, and green of the Italian flag. In her honor, the pizza became known as the Margherita.

That tradition inspires us as we work toward bringing A’Pizzeria Italiano to Oconto. Pizza has always been a food of community. It is meant to be placed in the center of the table and enjoyed together.

The Margherita pizza reminds us that excellence is often found in simplicity.

As we continue on this authentic pizza-making journey, we are applying its traditions. The Margherita is one example. Soon, A’Pizzeria Italiano will begin writing its own story here in Oconto. We look forward to sharing it with you.

As promised, the gluten-free pizza. I have succeeded and as a testimonial, I loved it.

Many of you requested gluten-free pizza and after much experimentation I have succeeded.

Note: This is baked in a 550° home oven. It will be 10 times better in the wood fired oven.

The Good Life

This morning I awoke to a lake breeze and the songs of birds greeting a new day. An eagle drifted overhead. The trees were green with spring, and the world seemed to slow down for a moment.

Days like this remind us that joy is often found in simple things.

It is found in a walk through town to view its historic buildings, ones that have stood for generations. I like to see church steeples, libraries, familiar streets, and familiar faces. Joy is found in communities as ours where people still know their neighbors and take time to stop and talk.

Good food has always been about more than food. It brings people together. It creates memories.

The French speak of joie de vivre—the joy of living. It is the appreciation of life's everyday blessings: good company, meaningful conversation, laughter, and time spent with family and friends.
