The Greenhouse on Porter will bring people together by way of impeccable coffee and snacks, and keep the engagement going by offering gatherings, markets, art, and information. At first glance, it seems like a normal coffee shop, but then you notice bits of information about the local products used and the furniture built by a local job training program. On weekends, the Pop-up Hood (the yard) wil

l be buzzing with vendors made up of local farmers, artists and makers coming to get their products out there. Throughout the week there will be art shows, figure drawing classes, movie screenings, lectures by interesting people, exercise classes, local cheese, wine and beer tastings, and potluck parties with performances by local and visiting talent. The Greenhouse on Porter will showcase what is amazing about our community, while introducing the new. We would like to prove (and share) that helping others in the community is a successful business model. By creating a setting for experimentation for us and members of the community, we hope to not only demonstrate that the community can support new ideas, but create them as well beyond our current dreams. We hope that by creating an open and encouraging environment, ideas will be shared, dreams will become realities, and learning and fun will be had by all. We would like to prove that focusing on ideas and the community instead of profit can grow a successful and profitable business.

Join us for a special evening of wonderful food from Také Box Nola. Limited seats available.
Starting out as a pandemic passion project, Také Box NOLA is a small urban mushroom farm co-owned by Caroline Muneoka and Kyle Holt. Our goal is to provide local and sustainable gourmet mushrooms and mushroom grow kits, while raising awareness of the environmental and health benefits that mushrooms provide. Coming from the backgrounds of an artist and a chef we love the opportunity to get creative and have fun sharing our second passion: cooking. We strive for culinary and cultural authenticity as we bring new flavors and experiences to all those who choose to dine with us. Enjoy!

The will host a pop up bookshop at the Greenhouse on Porter on Thursday, December 16 from 5-7 p.m. We will have general fiction, non-fiction, young adult and children’s books on hand. As well as a few seasonal books.
Local writers Sarah Adlakha, Amanda Pavlov and Jennifer Moffet will also be there to sign and discuss their books, and to celebrate the release day of Amanda’s new book, Mind Like a Diamond! Open to one and all. Hope to see you there!
