Has it really already been three weeks since Retro Con?? Time flies when you've been unconscious...
Anyway, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Retro Con 2026!! With numerous conventions this year seeing attendance drop, dates postponed, or shows outright canceled due to the dreaded “unforeseen circumstances”, the pressure was definitely on. So we're thrilled to report that we completely obliterated both our preregistration AND at-the-door numbers!
We like to think of Retro Con as an all-ages show, but it's pretty evident from the guests we bring in that we're targeting an older-than-usual fanbase (ourselves included). It can be tough getting people who haven't been to a convention in years to rejoin the fray, especially when they're used to seeing shows that cost $50+ just to get through the door. That's why we're especially happy to see Retro Con finding its core audience more and more every year. Several people took the time to personally thank us over the weekend for keeping the show so reasonably priced, and those kind words really mean a lot to us.
A huge shout-out to everyone that bought a ticket (pre-reg or at the door) and supported the show this year, to all our awesome exhibitors for crushing the vendor rooms seen at most conventions, all our friendly guests for the year, everyone that came dressed up in costume, our ever-vigilant panel room operator Joe, anyone who participated in our contests, the Press outlets that covered the show, the Knight Rider crew for bringing their KITT and insanely cool semi truck to the show (a special thanks to our old friend Kevin for making that possible), the Cybertronic Spree for making their triumphant return, our sponsors for the year such as The Very Best and RetroDaze, and to everyone that helped us promote along the way!
And as always, our BIGGEST thanks go to our staff and volunteers! While the vast majority of the planning happens throughout the year between the two of us, we could never pull off the actual show without the amazing support structure of people we're proud to call friends. From hall setup, vendor and attendee check-in, line control, door watch, selling admission, airport/hotel/food runs, guest watch, and all the surprise situations that inevitably pop up throughout the weekend, these are the real exemplars that keep the show in motion. We sometimes feel like we work them too hard, but their parting words are often something in the vein of “Looking forward to next year”. That means more to us than they'll ever realize. Thank you all for your hard work, your friendship, and for always making us look good.
And another THANK YOU to everyone who spent all or part of your weekend with us! Whether you traveled across town or across the globe, bought a table, met a guest, entered a contest, watched a panel, did some shopping, or simply hung out with friends, we appreciate you being there and helping make Retro Con what it is.
