One look at these photos and it's easy to forget you're in the heart of New York City.

Evan C. Lai Landscape Design created this incredible rooftop retreat, and we were honored to contribute the twenty-one custom metal screens that help define the space.

Working with Evan and his team, we developed the panels to integrate seamlessly into the overall landscape design. Fabricated in Turnbuckle, a pattern I designed for Modern Metal, and finished in an exterior-grade jet black powder coat, the screens provide privacy and enclosure while still allowing light, air, and glimpses of the lush planting beyond.

What I love about the finished project is how quietly the screens do their job. Rather than becoming the focal point, the pattern creates a layered backdrop for the greenery, allowing the landscape, architecture, and metalwork to work together as one.

And of course, it's always rewarding to hear that the client is happy. Evan shared that both the client and interior designer were "super pleased with the final fencing product" and loved how the plantings mixed in with the panels.
