Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch

Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch Harvest Moon offers a family-friendly pumpkin patch and a barn venue for weddings, receptions, and special gatherings in Oakland, Ne.
(407)

We started in 2007 with a few barn dances and some pumpkins for sale by the highway. Now, after nearly 20 years, we have expanded beyond what we ever thought possible! On the farm, we have barn slides, corn maze, corn pit, monster trikes, pedal go-karts, kiddie trikes, zip-lines, jumping pillows, sports sheds, animals, bonfire pits, and much, much more. We have delicious concessions available, beautiful pumpkins, merch, and more. We host events big and small, just give us a call!

As we flip through these old throwback photos, it’s amazing to see how much Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch has grown over the years. What started as a simple idea and a lot of hard work has slowly turned into the place you see today. Landscapes have changed, buildings have gone up, attractions have been added, and every season has brought something new.

But none of it happened overnight, and none of it happened alone.

This place has been shaped by countless hours of work from family, friends, and the incredible employees who have poured their time, energy, and creativity into making Harvest Moon what it is today. From early mornings mowing/weeding to late nights getting things ready for opening day, every corner of this farm holds a story and a piece of someone’s effort.

So while the photos show just how much the farm has changed visually over the years, the heart behind it hasn’t changed a bit. The goal has always been the same: to create a place where people can come together, make memories, and feel right at home

2014 was the year that the barn was transformed from the old Morton shed and was replaced with Josh's design. What started as just a pumpkin patch suddenly shifted into something more! This new design allowed us to begin hosting weddings and special celebrations on the farm, and we have been filling up our summers with celebrations ever since!

In the beginning, we grew our own pumpkins as a little business venture for James, Jesse, and Kiersten. It was a way for them to earn money, learn responsibility, and understand what it means to work for something. We planted every seed ourselves and cared for them all season long.

When fall came, we’d set up shop in the red barn and wait for families to stop by and pick out their pumpkins. As the farm grew and more customers came each year, we were blessed to partner with local families in Decatur and Hooper who now help us supply enough pumpkins for everyone who visits.

It’s been pretty amazing to watch it grow from a small family project into something so much bigger.

Before it became the barn everyone knows today, it was an old green and white Morton machine shed. Back then, it would get cleaned out for barn dances — with music playing, food shared between friends, and even the occasional live band bringing the place to life.

Later on, the barn was redesigned by our son Josh and then rebuilt by Josh and his business partner Chad, with extra help from our other sons, James and Jesse, and owner Mark. It’s pretty special knowing it was built by family hands and a whole lot of heart.

This year Harvest Moon is celebrating its 20th season!

It is hard to believe how much has changed over the years, what started as a simple idea (barn dances and road side pumpkin selling) has turned into something we are really proud of!

Over the next few days we want to share little memories and throwbacks of where it all began. Stay tuned!

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. 💛

Every smile, every helping hand, every encouraging word, and every visit to the farm meant more than you’ll ever know. You showed up for us (in big ways and small) and that’s something we will cherish.

To our amazing staff who worked tirelessly (with nothing but smiles) our families who stood beside us, and to this wonderful community who continues to make Harvest Moon what it is… thank you for lifting us up and helping us through a year that wasn’t easy, but was filled with so much heart.

Here’s to the incredible people who make it all worthwhile. We cannot wait to see you all next season to celebrate 20 YEARS! 🌾💛
