The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit presents the seventh annual JCC Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival March 23 – April 3, with an eclectic mix of performers including David Broza, whose extraordinary style ranges from Flamenco-flavored rhythmic and percussion techniques to whirlwind finger-picking to a signature rock-and-roll sound. rvin Hamlisch, multi-award winning American music and film composer and one-time musical director and arranger for Barbra Streisand; a progressive Jewish music showcase featuring Y-Love, Pitom and StereoSinai; jazz performance with Amy Yassinger and the Yazzmen; local talent showcase with Heller, Styer and Green, Jewish Troubadour and David Nefesh; and a cantors’ concert.

Piano prodigy and popular performer Ethan Bortnick will be performing on March 15. Bortnick is the youngest musician to headline a concert tour, the youngest to headline in Las Vegas, and has made numerous TV appearances ranging from the Tonight Show to Oprah.

Local blogger Jack Zaientz has been exploring Jewish music for the last 5 years in his popular blog, Teruah. Zaientz has been interviewed by Israeli National Radio and Canada’s CFRC and in 2008, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency ranked him as the 36th most influential Jewish figure on Twitter.
