Novato 4th of July Parade

Novato 4th of July Parade Every July 4th, people come from all over to celebrate the holiday by watching our hometown parade. We could use your help! Consider volunteering this year.

Go to NovatoParade.com to register, sign-up to volunteer, or get more information. Boasting more than 100 entries each year, this parade is one of the largest in the Bay Area. Early in the morning on the 4th, crowds line Novato’s Grant Avenue in the city’s Old Town district -- many of whom planted their folding chairs and blankets in the wee hours of the morning to secure their favorite tradition

al spot to watch. Parade-goers loves the pageantry of classic cars, color guards, festive floats, bands, fancy cowgirls on golden palominos, decorated basset hounds and the famed comedic marching troop, the Nave Patrola. The parade is famous for its contingent of vintage military vehicles from the Joe Garbarino World War II Military Vehicle Museum in San Rafael, and our military veterans heartily appreciate recognition for their sacrifices to our country. This beloved hometown event is managed by a committee of volunteers who work year-round to make it the best parade it can be. On the 4th, dozens more volunteers help with logistical matters in so many ways. Sign up at www.novatoparade.com.

The Novato Fourth of July Parade, the North Bay’s largest Independence Day event, is encouraging entries on NovatoParade.com through June 15. This year’s parade theme is a celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary as a nation.

The all-volunteer organizing committee is looking for individuals and groups to volunteer. Staging a safe and efficient parade requires 60-80 volunteers to manage upwards of 100 entries and 10,000 spectators. Sign up on the website or send questions about volunteering to [email protected]. A mandatory orientation meeting for volunteers will take place July 3.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Grant Avenue at Reichert Avenue in the heart of Old Town and runs west for approximately seven-tenths of a mile to Seventh Street. More parade information is on novatoparade.com.
