Meetinghouse Concerts

Meetinghouse Concerts Meetinghouse Concerts are a dream come true, born of a vision that began to take shape over our many years of attendance at the National Quartet Convention

They’re Southern Gospel at its absolute best! It’s music with a message, music that lifts the spirit and touches the heart. If you think “church” can’t be fun, you need to come, just once, to taste and see what all the excitement is about. The personalities are warm, the passions are real, and the programs are exactly what we hoped they would be when we stepped out in faith to launch this venture

in the summer of 2005. Meetinghouse Concerts are a dream come true, born of a vision that began to take shape over our many years of attendance at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville (see scrapbook link), Southern Gospel’s flagship event. So often, watching these groups draw thunderous ovations from jubilant crowds in Freedom Hall, we would find ourselves thinking, “If only our friends back home could get a taste of what we’re experiencing now.”

We wanted to share that Joe went home to be with the Lord yesterday morning. He passed peacefully with his family beside him in prayer. When he closed his eyes here for the last time, we know that when he opened his eyes again, he saw his beautiful wife Carol; a moment he had waited so long for.

Meetinghouse Concerts was a dream of Joe and Carol’s. It was such a huge part of their lives. The memories and friendships made through Meetinghouse were a true gift to us all. We wouldn’t be surprised if Joe has already started organizing concerts in heaven.

Joe would often say that he had been blessed beyond measure in this life and we know he truly believed in the lyrics “that when we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the victory.”

Thank you for the years of support, love and friendship. God Bless you all.

Wanted to share an update as many have been asking. Joe continues to focus on his recovery from the stroke he suffered in 2021 and from a car accident he was in in 2022. At this time his focus is on his rehabilitation and spending time with his family, especially his five precious grandchildren. Concerts will unfortunately not be scheduled for 2023.

Meetinghouse Concerts began with a dream Joe and Carol shared of bringing Southern Gospel back home for their friends to hear. With Joe on stage hosting the concerts and Carol with her beautiful smile warmly greeting people at the door, they created a wonderful program that brought joy to so many. For twenty years, Meetinghouse Concerts hosted dozens of incredible groups, many of whom became dear friends of Joe and Carol and also of so many of you.

Through the years there have been so many people that helped this program; whether it was on stage, behind the scenes, being a patron or simply attending the concerts, we know that Joe and Carol would say, each of you were answers to prayers. After Carol’s passing in 2012, these concerts and the friendships he shared with so many of you were of great comfort to him. There are so many people that helped make these concerts a success and for fear of not wanting to forget anyone we didn’t want to try to list you all.

We know that Joe and Carol would want to thank each of you for all of your support through the years. Meetinghouse Concerts was a dream realized and for that we are forever grateful.

Jim & Melissa Brady are here this Sunday, September 15th
at 6:00 p.m! The concert will be held at the United Church of Norwood, 595 Washington Street on (Route 1A) in Norwood.

Our series of Southern Gospel concerts resumes this Sunday when we welcome back Jim & Melissa, who absolutely delighted our congregation when they were with us last summer. That was no surprise; Southern Gospel fans know and love them both.

After many years of singing with The Booth Brothers, one of the industry's most awarded groups, Jim left them to join his wife Melissa, whose own singing career has seen her work alongside a Who's Who of top-shelf groups and artists. Both always sensed it was only a matter of time before, as Scripture would put it, musically, the two became one, and ever since that happened the results have been spectacular, as we're about to hear again.

RESERVED TICKETS: $20 TICKETS AT THE DOOR: $25

If you would like to take advantage of the reduced price, just call or email us to make your reservation:

The Jim Brady Trio is here this Sunday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the United Church of Norwood, located at 595 Washington Street (Route 1A) in Norwood, MA

Well, here we are, just days away from welcoming Jim, Melissa and Layke - - The Jim Brady Trio! - - to the platform of the beautiful, air-conditioned sanctuary of United Church for our second Meetinghouse Concert of the 2018 season.

This one has been in the making for a couple of years as we've wrestled with schedules, so from the moment we secured this date the anticipation has been building.

If you're a Southern Gospel fan you already know Jim from his years as an award-winning member of the fabulous Booth Brothers, and some of you Meetinghouse regulars may remember Melissa from her appearance here with The Hoppers.

Fulfilling a longtime desire to team up musically as husband and wife, they began their own Trio ministry in 2014, bringing gifted studio singer Layke Jones aboard, and they've been drawing congregations to their feet ever since.

If you haven't yet confirmed your plans to be with us, you can still do so at a reduced price:

Reserved tickets: $15
Tickets at the door: $20

Just call or email us and we'll have your tickets waiting:

HYSSONGS TO OPEN OUR 15th SEASON!

We'll soon be kicking off our 15th season of bringing Southern Gospel singing at its best to friends up here who rarely get to experience it. But once they get that first taste, they're hooked, as we have been for many, many years, going back to the 50s when the legendary Blackwood Brothers caught our attention.

Our opening concert will be Sunday evening, June 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at United Church of Norwood, 595 Washington Street, where there's lots of free parking and air-conditioned comfort.

The Hyssongs will be our guests and we can't wait to see and hear them again. Their songs are terrific, their personalities are delightful, and when Richard (trombone) and his dad Dell (trumpet) pick up their horns it is goosebump time! Together with Mom and wife Susan they have created a wonderful, high-energy family sound that gets congregations smiling and tapping their toes. It's simply outstanding music, carrying with it a timeless message.

Reserved tickets are only $15 and you can order them by phone or email: 781-762-8532 or [email protected]. Just tell us how many you want and you can pay for them when you arrive.

Tickets purchased at the door cost $20.

We also have a very attractive Patron package. For $50 a Patron receives acknowledgment in the printed program, reserved seating, a sumptuous post-concert buffet with the Hyssongs, and a partial tax credit.

All special donations, which we appreciate so much, are fully tax deductible; receipts will be provided.

We hope to see you there. You're going to be awfully glad you came.

-Joe

Here's hoping you've set aside Sunday evening, October 8, to join us for the final concert of our 2017 season featuring our good friends, The Lesters. For more than 75 years this family group from St. Louis has reeled off hit after hit, songs that not only topped the charts but, in many cases, became classics, indeed the stuff of legends

It was The Lesters who helped us kick off this venture back in 2005 and they've been with us every year since, much to the delight of our congregation.

So far this year we've hosted The Dixie Echoes, The Tribute Quartet, The Down East Boys and The Perrys, providing what we believe is exposure to the very best of Southern Gospel music; so what better way could there be to bring down the curtain on our 13th season than a return visit by Brian, Bailee and Jonathan!

We meet at United Church of Norwood, MA, 595 Washington Street (Route 1A), and the concert begins at 6 p.m.

Reserved tickets are $15 and tickets at the door are $20.

To make your reservations, just call or email us:
(781) 762-8532
[email protected]

And if you'd like to be a Patron, let us know that, too. For $50, a Patron receives reserved seating, acknowledgment in the printed program, a post-concert buffet with The Lesters, and a partial tax credit.

Looking forward to seeing you there. You're going to be awfully glad you came! -Joe
