Meet Carrie Sullivan, sophomore at the University of Rhode Island, where she is studying Music Therapy. She has been a performer since age 6, and we are so happy to have her in our show, as June’s Mom, a.k.a. Supermom. She is vivacious, funny and able to portray an amazing range of emotions in this demanding role.
Why did you want to be in this production?
CS: I wanted to be in this production because I was itching to be on stage again after so long without performing, and this seemed like a perfect outlet, especially because the whole cast is there out of pure excitement for the story and the characters.
What is challenging about bringing this script to life?
CS: This script is challenging because it shows the extremes of human emotion. My character specifically goes from feeling like she’s on top of the world to having it all fall apart, and that contrast can be hard, especially because it’s so real and raw here.
What do you love about this character?
CS: I love how much Supermom loves her kids. Her prevailing motivation is that she wants them to do well and be happy, and she works so hard to provide that for them. But, she has to learn her identity outside of motherhood and how to take care of herself, too. I think we can all relate to needing to learn to love ourselves as hard as we love others.
We’re SOLD OUT of physical tickets, but to see Carrie and this cast next Thursday and Friday at 8:00 PM, watch our livestream at www.twitch.tv/ForLoveAndMusicNorton for the low low price of a donation to any food pantry of your choosing.
