5k for Kenya Mission Run/Walk

5k for Kenya Mission Run/Walk THAT OLD VIRUS HAS CAUSED US TO POSTPONE THIS EVENT. The new date will be posted as soon as we know i

All proceeds from the run support Challenge Farm (challengefarm.org) in Kitale, Kenya, and Tenderfeet Education Center in Nairobi, Kenya. Challenge Farm is home to approximately 150 former street kids, and Tenderfeet is a school for 125 orphaned or disadvantaged kids. In both cases, abandoned kids are rescued off the streets, many in the age range of four to seven, and many have turned to drugs, v

iolence or have been abused. At both places, they are given hope, an education, and a chance at breaking a life cycle of hopelessness. Please join us on race day, April 18, to run, walk, eat pancakes, and learn more about Challenge Farm and Tenderfeet.

Thanks to just4running.com for the Run/Walk pics! It was a great day!

The race Pictures are ready! Click the name "RACE PICTURES- 5K For Kenya Mission Run- April 20 2019" and share them with family and friends. Thanks for all your great smiles and PLEASE join us by Liking our page!!!

A little chilly but very sunny for this annual event benefitting Challenge Farm, Tenderfeet Education Center, and The Shelter of United Love in Kenya! (with the actual missionaries to Kenya explaining their work and successes at the start of the 5k)

Post race included a pancake breakfast with all the trimmings (fresh strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips), door prizes and special awards from Kenya!

There were almost 180 5k runners and walkers (and additional fun runners) who came out for this very well organized event thanks to the race director Maggie Raburn and her many volunteers at check-in, throughout the course, and post race!!

It takes a lot of time and planning to coordinate such an event so be sure to spread the word for next year!

Also lets not forget the local police for helping to keep everyone safe and Ed Freeman and the folks at the Tuscaloosa Track Club who timed the event (with some early morning assistance by Roy Meeks!)

Our Story

All proceeds from the run support Challenge Farm (challengefarm.org) in Kitale, Kenya; Tenderfeet Education Center (tenderfeetkids.org) in Nairobi, Kenya; and The Shelter for United Love (S.O.U.L.) also in Kenya. Challenge Farm is home to approximately 200 former street kids, and Tenderfeet is a school for 125 orphaned or disadvantaged kids. S.O.U.L. rescues children who have retreated to “no man’s land” between Kenya and Uganda. In all cases, abandoned kids are rescued off the streets, many in the age range of four to seven, and many have turned to drugs, violence or have been abused. They are given hope, an education, and a chance at breaking a life cycle of hopelessness. Please join us on race day, April 20, to run, walk, eat pancakes, and learn more about these precious children and the ministries that are providing hope, love, and faith.
