The NBJH Wind Ensemble heads to the Prairie State Middle School Concert Band Festival this Friday!

The band performs at 6:30pm, followed by a clinics with nationally-recognized clinicians. Watch their performance LIVE on the Prairie State Festival page!

Congratulations to 8th-grade clarinet player Fatima Ramirez for being selected to perform in the Northshore Concert Band’s 2025 Lifetime of Music Concert on February 16th at Northwestern University’s Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. She is among 44 students who were selected to perform with the concert band. The musicians of Northshore Concert Band come from across the Chicago area and represent a wide range of professions, from educators and business executives to attorneys and healthcare professionals. Many have performed with the ensemble for over two decades, united by their shared commitment to the Band’s mission of musical excellence and community service, according to its website.

Congratulations to the 19 Northbrook Junior High musicians who auditioned for the ILMEA District 7 Festivals! This year the auditions included hundreds of students from over 60 schools, performing in band and orchestra auditions.
Preparing to audition for this festival is a great learning experience, and acceptance is a true achievement.
This year, we are proud to share that a total of six NBJH students from band and orchestra were selected:
Alice Ham (7th grade, Bassoon)
Chloe Kim (8th grade, Percussion)
Kai Stash (8th grade, Choir-Baritone)
Zach Gidaspow (8th grade, Viola)
Jake Werber (8th grade, viola)
Evan Kim (cello)

****If you have an 8th grader who is thinking about continuing band at GBN****

GBN band is hosting an event Tuesday, October 15, for students to attend with a parent or guardian to learn about Marching Band!

Enter through Door J (the athletic entrance).
Middle school students do not need to bring anything with them, and they will be indoors throughout the performance.

The specific timeline is as follows:
7:00-7:20pm GBN Marching Band Performs
7:20-7:45pm Meet & Greet with Students (Parents speak with Band Directors and Current Marching Band Parents)

The District 28 Music Parents Club 68th Annual Wreath & Coffee Sale is LIVE and runs through 11/1/24! Our children are so lucky to be part of the D28 Award-winning music program and we appreciate the support of all D28 Music Families.
