5 THINGS ATHLETES CAN DO TO PREPARE FOR THE COMPETITION SEASON
Fall Performance Camp is where we build, but what athletes do outside of practice can make a difference, too. If you’re serious about being ready for winter competition and the spring season, here are a few things to add to your weekly routine at home:

1. Resistance Band Work
We incorporate bands into practice, but adding another 1–2 short sessions during the week can help reinforce strength, stability, and muscle activation.

2. Core Strength
Your core is more than your abs! Work on your entire core with exercises that challenge your stability and control—not just crunches. Aim for 2 additional sessions a week.

3. Strength Training
Age and experience matter here. Older athletes may benefit from structured weight training with proper supervision, while younger athletes can build strength through age-appropriate bodyweight exercises. Consistency and good technique come first.

4. Balance & Ankle Stability
This one is often overlooked! Balance helps athletes develop control and stability through the feet and ankles. Building that control can support better movement and help reduce injury risk. Incorporate additional balance exercises into your weekly routine.

5. Stretching, Hydration & Mental Preparation
Take time for a gentle nighttime stretching routine, holding comfortable positions rather than rushing through them. Consistent flexibility work can help maintain range of motion. Stay hydrated, fuel your body, and spend time thinking about your goals. Your preparation includes your mindset, too!

Remember, more isn’t always better. These activities should complement practice, not leave athletes exhausted or interfere with recovery. Start with manageable sessions, focus on proper technique, and build consistency.

Our athletes can begin competing as early as December! Winter Competition Training begins November 30th, giving athletes the opportunity to continue developing while preparing for competition. We’ll open our indoor season at LSU, in December.

💜 INTRODUCING THE NORTH SHORE TRACK CLUB TEAM STORE!

We’ve made a few updates! Our new team store is now the place to register for North Shore Track Club programs, camps, and training opportunities. You’ll also find our new 7th Heaven Mystic Athlete Recovery Duo available through the store.

This is something special I’ve been working on—a handmade, ancient Egyptian-inspired recovery formula created with athletes and active lifestyles in mind. I’m excited to finally introduce it to our community and share another way we’re supporting athletes beyond the track.

You’ll also notice sections for team apparel, accessories, and more. Those items are still in the works, so keep an eye out for future additions!

Before the first rep, there’s preparation.

Making sure your athlete has water, shoes that fit comfortably, and everything they need for practice makes a difference. And just a quick reminder: training spikes aren’t necessary for fall training. Right now, we’re focused on building the athlete—not racing.

That’s really what Fall Performance Camp is about.

We’re working on the habits that need to be in place before we get into our winter competition training season: showing up consistently, warming up properly, learning how to move efficiently, paying attention to mechanics, and general conditioning.

The little things we do now become the habits athletes rely on later.

We’re still in the middle of Fall Performance Camp, and Winter Competition Training is now open for those who are ready to continue that progression into the next phase of the season.

[Starts November 30th]
Ages 5-18

A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE OUR ATHLETES

Our 2026 Athlete Awards Banquet was such a special evening. From celebrating the hard work and growth of our athletes to sharing a meal, taking photos, laughing, dancing, and simply enjoying time together as a team—this was a beautiful way to close out another season.

Every PR, every new skill, every challenge overcome, every moment of confidence gained… those are the things worth celebrating. 🏆💜

A huge thank you to our athletes, families, volunteer coaches, and everyone who continues to support North Shore Track Club. This season was built by a community, and we’re grateful for every person who has been part of the journey.

And before the night came to an end, we were excited to soft launch something new presented as a gift to our 2026 MVPs: Coach J's 7th Heaven Mystic Athlete Recovery System — Mystic Bath Oil + Overnight Recovery System, handcrafted and created with active recovery and post-training routines in mind.

More details coming soon. 💜

Here’s to another season of growth, hard work, and making memories together.

Feet & Ankles: The Foundation of Pre-Season Training
Before athletes start heavy lifting, intense sprinting, jumping, or high-volume training, it’s important to prepare the feet and ankles for the demands that are coming.

The feet and ankles absorb force, help create stability, and contribute to how efficiently an athlete pushes into the ground. If they aren’t strong and controlled, athletes may compensate elsewhere through the knees, hips, or lower legs.

That’s why pre-season is a great time to build strength from the ground up.

Some simple areas to work on include:

Calf raises — both straight-knee and bent-knee
Single-leg balance and stability

Tibialis raises for the muscles along the front of the lower leg

Ankle mobility

Controlled jumping and landing

Barefoot strength work when appropriate
.are just a few techniques

Gradually progressing from basic stability is KEY to injury prevention‼️

At North Shore Track Club’s Fall Performance Camp, lower-extremity strength and control are incorporated into training to help athletes develop the foundation they need before the demands of competition and heavier training increase.

We work on more than just running fast. How an athlete interacts with the ground matters.

Build the foundation first. Then build on it. 🏃🏾‍♀️💨
