A huge thanks to all who have supported the Tour de North Port for the past 13 rides. The ride was created by People for Trees, a non-profit native tree advocacy group since 1997 in order to finance tree plantings, programs, and the number of Florida-friendly plant/native tree areas installed throughout North Port, Sarasota County, Charlotte County, and beyond.
But all good things must come to an end.
The decision has been made to put the ride to bed.
Please continue to support the work of People for Trees; donations can be made through our website www.peoplefortrees.com, and volunteers are not only always welcomed but very much needed so the work we have been doing on behalf of our native tree canopy for the past 28 years can continue; those trees you have been admiring in public spaces just may be ones that we planted!
Stay safe, stay alert out there!

Butterfly/Pollinator Gardening made easy!
People for Trees, a non-profit native tree advocacy group since 1997, will present a program featuring the plants that attract butterflies and other pollinators on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the North Port Library, 13800 Tamiami Trail, 6pm. This is part of a continuing series being presented by People for Trees that has been showcasing Florida-friendly plants best suited for your yard, as well as the best native trees to plant in this area.
Butterfly/Pollinator gardens feature plants that attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators that are crucial to sustaining our plant ecosystems. These gardens are Florida-friendly as they include plants that are drought-tolerant, require no fertilizers, and of course use no herbicides or pesticides.
See how simple it is to get rid of that grass without first needing to dig up the sod. Butterfly/Pollinator gardens are perfect for front yards including those that have a septic tank and drain field. Plant lists to get you started will be available.
People for Trees has been promoting “Florida-friendly Yards” that have included butterfly/pollinator-attracting plants since 1998. Registration is not required. For more info: Alice White, 941-468-2486 or visit www.peoplefortrees.com
