In 2004, Street Gospel Records contracted James Smith to audition, select and develop a 15-voice ensemble from the Las Vegas area to put the final touches on a recording project started in the late ‘90s. After the project was complete, this ensemble evolved into the Las Vegas Mass Choir. Smith, a nationally renowned Choir Master, originates from Los Angeles, California. He was a charter member and
choir director of recording artist Keith Pringle & the Pentecostal Community Choir of Los Angeles, Calif., who brought us such hits as, “True Victory and Call Him Up”. Smith also has prepared vocal arrangements and performed with many entertainers, including Dionne Warwick, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Kenny Rogers, Patti La Belle and Robert Townsend. On April 5, 2005, the Las Vegas Mass Choir released their first nationally distributed CD, entitled “Mass Appeal”. Michael McKay. The Las Vegas Mass Choir now is a common name on gospel television and radio networks throughout the United States. After the release of “Mass Appeal”, LVMC was honored with the “Choir of the Year” award at the 4th Annual Hollywood Gospel Insider Awards in Hollywood, Calif. Since then, the choir has performed on several television shows, including “I Gospel,” in Charlotte, N.C., “Jeff Majors Gospel of Music,” in Los Angeles, “Bobby Jones Summit” in Nantucket, Conn., and “Heavenly Sent” on the WORD Network in Las Vegas. In 2006, they received the Las Vegas Black Music Award for Best Performance by a Choir. LVMC are proud supporters of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and World Vision which provides relief support to children in Africa. The Las Vegas Mass Choir is a body of 25 vocalist who love Jesus and love to sing about Him. Ranging in age from 21 to 55, they perform monthly at the House of Blues Sunday Gospel Brunch at the Mandalay Bay Resort on the historic Las Vegas Strip. This gifted group has captivated audiences in many other locations throughout the Las Vegas community the US and most recently they returned from a tour to Australia performing at the Melbourne Jazz Festival. Through their recording projects and appearances, LVMC will lift up the name of Jesus and share their inspirational music ministry wherever the Lord takes them.
