As you may have heard, the Downtown Partnership is doing a survey of downtown businesses to determine support for Roar on the Shore's return to downtown Erie. The question we have is this: Why didn't the Downtown Partnership survey question include other festivals - Celebrate Erie, Rib Cook Off, Tall Ships, Gears and Grubs??? Why just ROAR, a motorcycle charitable event? We predict that the survey will come back negative, The Mayor will use it as an excuse to not issue city permits since the cost issues have all been addressed. It will be interesting to see why the survey will be negative and apply the same logic to Celebrate Erie - a far more disruptive event than Roar.

Where will Roar on the Shore be located next year? That is a question on everyone’s mind. The answer is we don’t know yet. Recently we gave the city of Erie a proposal which we believe, reduces the cost by 70%. If the REAL reason Mayor Schember blocked Roar from downtown Erie is money, then that issue is now been resolved. We have provided you with two links. The first link is the actual cost sheet summary submitted to Roar by the city of Erie. The second link is the Roar proposal which outlines every single line item and shows how to reduce that cost. It also includes local vendor preference and allowing food trucks to participate. One last thing. Thunder in the Valley has been around for 23 years and is one of the most successful rallies in the country. There budget is the same as Roar, their crowds are the same as Roar’s and they occupy a larger part of their downtown than Roar and operate longer hours. Here is the Police bill from the city of Johnstown: $13,500 the city of Erie’s bill to Roar for Police: $99,000. Click on the links to learn more.
