DO NOT MISS THIS EXHIBIT!! There is so much to love and learn from the new exhibit created by College students. "The Stitches Between Us: Women's Handwork and Our Shared Stories" at Park-McCullough is NOW OPEN! Both the exhibit design class "oh the stitchery," and the museum studies class "The Art of Archiving the Artifact," contributed to the final product: a whole house review showcased as mini-vignettes telling the stories of handcraft among women, with elements of historical dress woven in. Join us in celebrating the Park-McCullough collection with fresh eyes. Spring semester students, along with Faculty Tilly Grimes and Teaching Assistant Cianna Lee, took a collaborative deep dive into handcraft (think needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, mending, quilting, sewing, and other arts and tasks). It was a means of expression, a reflection of gender expectations and class divide, and nuanced during a time of industrialization. Take a peek here, and then don't miss the experience in person... remember, admission is FREE for all in the 2026 season! Thank you for sharing your time with us this spring semester, students—we LOVE what you've created!

Staff and members of the board of trustees were proud to visit the State House yesterday to hear the very official reading of H.C.R. 206 commemorating the 160th anniversary of the Park-McCullough! Many thanks to Bennington Representative Will Greer for spearheading the Concurrent Legislative Resolution. What an honor to stand with Governor Phil Scott in the governor's office, in front of—yes, you're seeing it here—Former Governor John G. McCullough's (1902 - 1904) portrait. Pictured here with the intricately carved "Constitution Chair" is Curator David Schütz, who gave us a marvelous impromptu tour of the restored 1859 Executive Chamber (used during Legislative Sessions and for bill signings). The Constitution Chair was put into use as the official governor's chair by Former Governor Hiland Hall (1858 - 1860) during his term. Thank you, Governor Scott, Curator Schütz, and Representative Greer, for your time on this auspicious day!

Meet Joni and Gail, two of our most dedicated and talented volunteers, on site today, finding inspiration around every corner as they plan for the upcoming season. It's the tail end of Volunteer Week, and we're wanting to say "Thank you, amazing volunteers, for adding so much to the Park-McCullough experience!" The great work of the volunteer crew is apparent everywhere—in the gardens, around the buildings (including the playhouse!), throughout the museum, within the collection, during events, and explains each and every "awe" of the visitor interaction. Joni, Gail, and a handful of our other returning team members, along with museum director Polly Raine, invite you to an info session and pre-season gathering on May 3rd at 2 PM (RSVP to [email protected]). We look forward to meeting new faces and to welcoming back the entire volunteer crew for the exciting season ahead—we are grateful each and every day for all that you do!

With enormous thanks to all who have cared for it and appreciated it over the decades, the community surrounding the Park-McCullough is as much a part of its history as the individuals who once lived and worked here. On this day, 1865, Trenor Park and his wife, Laura van der Spiegel Hall Park, along with their children Eliza ("Lizzie"), Laura ("Lila"), and Trenor ("Train"), moved into their newly completed home at the corner of Park and West Streets in North Bennington. A magical holiday it must have been! Standing proud for 160 years and looking forward to many, many more.
