This intimate storefront performance space opened in March 2007 and has become popular with a variety of local performing artists. It has been tagged, "Norfolk's Little Showcase Theater" since singers, musicians, playwrights, poets, spoken word artists, comedians, dancers, burlesque performers, actors, storytellers, magicians and theater companies have found The Venue to be a welcoming space to s

1. MONDAY NIGHT OPEN MIC - Every Monday night between 7:00-11:00 PM - Our open mic is open to all genres and is a great space for artists to hone their performance skills and material. It is inviting for newbies and accomplished and artists both as our staff is there to provide feedback for the new artists, and, for the experienced trying out new pieces. If artists are interested, they can come back on Thursday and do more work with out performance coach at Performers Playground.

2. This skills enhancement program is for all performers using time tested techniques. Storytellers, comedians, poets, spoken word artists and even singers and musicians come in to hone their stage presence and delivery skills. Every Tuesday night from 9 pm to 12pm. Fee is $5

TLC PUPPET WORKSHOPS INC organization that is designed for teaching, learning, and creating the Arts in communities that otherwise​ could not experience the power of the Arts. Puppetry is the main vehicle for our education but we provide experiences all the Arts. And they are right here At the Venue on 35thStreet

💥Attention theater lovers! On December 6th we will welcome Broadway Veterans Angela Brown and Deon Ridley to Downing-Gross for a Masterclass from 10am-3pm.

From Stage to Screen will combine performance technique, choreography, directing, and industry navigation. Participants will engage in vocal and movement training, learn signature choreography, explore directing and teaching strategies, and gain behind-the-scenes knowledge of touring, television, and film work. With sessions on creative entrepreneurship, faith-driven mentorship, and community impact, the masterclass culminates in a collaborative performance and reflection, empowering the next generation of artists with tools for sustainable, purpose-filled careers.
