We can't believe it's Friday already! Today we are spotlighting the Richard A. Tucker Memorial Library in Norfolk, Va.!

The branch is named after Richard Allen Tucker, the former rector of the Cumberland Street School (renamed the S.C. Armstrong School), the first school built by Norfolk Public Schools for African American students. The Richard A. Tucker School operated from 1943-2011 on the land where the Richard A. Tucker Memorial Library sits.

The branch houses a significant book collection of more than 30,000 popular and classic fiction and nonfiction titles, including a special collection of African American literature, and other materials for all ages.

Today we are spotlighting another community partner helping in this summer's Old Dominion University MathFest Scavenger Hunt - the Nauticus!

Nauticus is a maritime discovery center located along the waterfront in downtown, Norfolk, VA, offering a unique form of experiential learning for all ages. Through interactive exhibits and STEM to STERN programming, Nauticus uses the museum, Battleship Wisconsin, sailing center, and Schooner Virginia to tell the story of the maritime environment, industry, and the military.

If you haven't been to the Nauticus lately, check out their new renovations!

The Nauticus Discovery Center & Battleship Wisconsin features an activity that allows you to enlist as a U.S. Navy Sailor and find your way around the 2nd deck using bullseyes located throughout. Explore the Battleship Wisconsin's 2nd deck, while searching for these exciting locations!

Ask for a MathFest activity in the Wardroom of the Battleship Wisconsin.

Every year we like to take a moment to say thank you to our partners in our quest to make sure every kid knows that Math is FUN! The Mariners' Museum and Park, located in Newport News, VA, has a mission to connect people to the world’s waters, because through the waters – through our shared maritime heritage – we are connected to one another.

During this summer's MathFest Scavenger Hunt, students in Hampton Roads in 3rd-8th grade and their parents can receive a free activity sheet from one of our partnering locations with math-focused challenges that are aligned with the organization’s mission.

In addition to the activity, students can earn one entry into our tablet giveaway for each location they visit.
