Happy September, friends! "The check is in the mail!" Fair premiums have been double checked and cross walked, printed and stuffed. They are in the capable hands of the postal service. Thank you for your patience, as it took a little longer than I anticipated to get them mailed. However, they are headed your way!

As there is always something to do on the farm, or in the garden, the time since the fair has been active and passed quickly. Fall is now just days away. We hope back to school has been a smooth transition for all of our fair families, and that you are enjoying the beautiful late summer weather here is central Pennsylvania!

So happy to take this photo at the fair Saturday evening. The Tractor Pull had just played the National Anthem. The stands were full, as was the parking and the pavilion. Perfect weather and possibly the best crowd in years!

Three special thanks are due.
First, thank you to Bruce Lemmon and Michele Michele Heaster Lemmon and everyone who works to keep the "Sport of Kings" thriving at the Fairgrounds! Barrick Tire Sales, Hoober Inc, Blue Mountain Excavating and Bulk Water, and numerous volunteers and other businesses support the competition at Newville every season. Thank them with your business and appreciation.
Second, South Newton Township Volunteer Fire Company 49 is on standby in case of emergency for the pull. These outstanding members of our community give of their time in roles of traffic control and emergency response and engagements with our young people throughout the year, in addition to our event. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you on behalf of Cumberland Ag Expo!
Finally, thanks to all of you, our public, without which there would be no food sold, exhibits to judge, agriculture or rural life to celebrate. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making YOUR show a success. Thank you for stepping up to help. Thank you for being a part of our show. Seeing the 4H youth, all the young ladies in the pageant, the miniature horses that drove hours to pull on Wednesday, and you enjoying Food and Fun for All, made our collective efforts worthwhile. If I did not personally thank you, I am doing that here and now.
We will have some additional videos and pictures in recaps throughout this week. Home exhibit checks will be mailed and received within 2 weeks! See you next season!

Smiling faces all around the Fairgrounds as our Queen Cadence Brown was out meeting our friends and neighbors while enjoying this beautiful August weather. While we were a little disappointed to cancel the horse pull for lack of competitors, everyone enjoyed listening to the harmonies of Kirk Wise Music and seeing their award winning fair entries. The baked ziti was delicious, and the kids all worked up an appetite to ride the barrel train pulled by Charlie Fawks on a classic Farmall!

Two days of the 2025 Cumberland Ag Expo remain. Join us this evening as an incredible group of young ladies of all ages compete for titles as our court - Miss Cumberland Ag Expo, our Junior Queen, Little Miss and Wee Little Miss. Add in the Princesses and Ambassadors, and we will be very well represented at community events from the close of this year’s fair until next season. A special thank you to everyone who has helped plan and prepare for tonight's pageant, especially our Pageant Director Lizzie Bailey.

See you all to tonight at 6 for the Little Miss divisions and around 7:30 for the Queen Competition!

We had the privilege of hosting the first ever miniature horses pull at Newville last night at the fair. We will have some videos on the YouTube channel later today! The athletic teams and their Teamsters gave the crowd a great show until an unexpected heavy shower called off the competition with 5 teams vying for victory.
Join us this evening as the sled and horses are bigger at the Draft Horse Pull, kicking off at 7PM. Enjoy the musical stylings of Kirk Wise from 6-8PM, while we stop over for dinner. We have a delicious baked ziti special tonight for only $8, along with hamburgers, cheeseburger, hot dogs, bbq, chicken tenders and french fries. No soup tonight. See you at the fair!

Today.
Tuesday.
The day the exhibit hall will fill up with exhibits for judging. 1PM to 6:30PM. Thank you in advance to all of you.
I want to thank three groups as we begin the week.
1. Those who share your talents as growers and makers and make US a great show!
2. Those volunteers, whether for 2 hours or 10, who keep things moving efficiently!
3. Those of you with a appetite for dinner and great music. Bring your requests for "Colby Dove the 12 String Wonder of the World." We are thrilled to have him open the show this evening!
